Keep in mind that Jerry has said that he and Chip have been known to spread rumors "just for the fun of it."
There will be Q400s when they show up outside the SLC hanger with "Operated by SkyWest Airlines" on the side. If we can agree on a payrate now, more power to us. |
Accepting 78-seat airframes for 50-seat jet pay is absurd. Any SkyWest Pilot that signs for those rates under the false pretenses given to them by their very-own paid representatives (such things as "upgrades", the obvious "more pay" since they would be parking the 30-seat Brasilia's most likely, and "more flying" from gaining more contracts with UniCAL & DL) is selling not only themselves short, but their fellow pilots, and pilots-to-be. Watch when SkyWest takes delivery of these hangar queens and parks all their 70 and 90 seat jets and you're stuck making nothing more than 50 seat pay with your sub-par work rules and pay guarantees.

Thanks for the responses everyone. From all I've heard here and from other sources, Skywest pilots are pretty determined to stick up for themselves. Great to hear.
Remember, while you may not have official collective barganing capability, the fact that your management badly wants to avoid unions on property does give your group a fair bit of leverage, and you can get stuff done without RLA handcuffs. Just be sure to talk to each other before talking them! Good luck (for all equipement types) getting what they can (and should) pay - not what they want to. |
