I know you directed this question at the drrythmn, but since I have not heard yet (and he hasn't replied yet), I'll chime in. My FTD eval was on 10/04. I called the pilot recruiter yesterday just to make sure I did not miss a phone call or an email. He said that my app was still being reviewed. I was glad to get that news. Seems like they are just busy and around 30 days seems like the lead time know.
Drrythmn- Thanks for the reply on your interview date.

The tab speed test is simply reading X and Y axis coordinates and the seeing what number is at that coordinate. It seemed like it was a time management vs accuracy test. There is no way to study for it. If you are a fast reader, you will do fine.
As far as the study guide, if it seems like there is a lot of material, it is because there is. I went out and bought 4 new books and read them before my interview. I worked to learn the concepts and formulas instead of remembering specific gouge questions. If you can apply the concept and formulas, you will do great. All I can say is the study guide is spot on. In fact I thought they were overly honest with what material the tests would be on. Just go down the list and make sure you know the formulas one at a time. If you makes sure you know them all, you will do fine. Good luck at the interview!

Okay here is the deal on the study guide, based on my experience. Asa / express jet has decided that they want to test drive Delta's interview process (their cognitive, psych, and technical computer based test ). The study guide they sent is for the technical part of Delta's computer based testing. I was surprised how in-depth it was. Basic CFI/III knowledge only gets you so far here. It's also the only part of the interview process that I didn't think I really aced.
It seems as if the computers draw from a huge test bank, so no two tests are exactly the same. My test had a disproportionately large number of questions about turbine engines (things like correct start sequence, items bleed air is used for, when they are most efficient, ram effect and thrust vs airspeed), jet theory (coffin corner, Mach tuck, Dutch roll, yaw dampers, etc), and for some reason about six questions on decent planning (know whatever that formula is). Though 1/4 the study guide is weather, I only got one weather question (about wind shear). The questions go surprisingly in depth. Study as much jet aircraft and turbine related theory as you can get you hands on, especially if you don't yet fly turbine aircraft.
That being said, DONT assume your test will be the same. It almost definitely will not be. It could be 60% weather. Who knows.
Now, on the cognitive test - go to www.lumosity.com and spend a bunch of time working through the basic skills test. Pay them $15 or whatever - its worth it. If you are online coupon savvy you can find a way to gift yourself a membership at a discount. Seriously, I spent a ton of time on this, got to where I was at the 90th percentile overall (you will see what I mean). It really payed off on the cog testing.
Second big hint on the cog testing. They test for speed and accuracy, so it's really important that you understand each test before starting. Take your time here. They give you practice examples before the real thing. They then ask if you understand - if you say no, you get more practice! I did that on about half the tests and it really helped me get down a process before starting on the timed portion. Take advantage of little opportunities like this.
The Asa portion of the interview has been well gouged. Study both the gouges and the delta stuff and you will do well. On the tabular test, the other people in my class were surprised I got through all fifty with time to spare. One hint that I figured out - the grid has negative through positive numbers on both axes, and it is labeled on each side (top/bottom/left/right). If you have to look up two positive numbers, immediately start in top right of grid. Two negatives would be bottom left. Make sense? No? Just ask and I'll clarify. I think lumosity helped here too.
Oh yeah - I got the job . Nov 7 class date.
Good luck to all.
