Pinnacle Pilots please help!!!

hey all,

We just got our three LIDO binders today. And I have an older coyote works(hunt I think they call them now) from my old 121 job, leather with the metal skid plate, and I can't fit those 3 plastic binders width wise into my flightcase. I can only fit them in length wise and then I don't have room for my other manuals and headset. Does anyone have any remedies or suggestions other than buying a new bigger cheaper flightcase?? maybe jepp leather binders?? thanks for the advice.

Are you a new hire?

I use the two black binders that were Pinnacle provided. I guess they are 3". It's a black hard plastic binder. Although it may look impossible, you can fit your LIDOs in 2 binders. A-J in one, K-Z in the other. Opening and closing it can be messy, but you get used to it.

rightside02 05-17-2011 02:54 PM

Lidos come from the devil !!!!!! I use two plastic ones that company gave me , and 1 leather jepp chart one. 3 books of charts 1 CFM . And my telex head sets, all barely fits in my Scotts leather bag.

Don't sorry tho. iPads coming next week ! Lol

KTownPilot 05-17-2011 03:43 PM

Ok....I'm a newbie and was just hired and start trng next month. I gotta ask as no one else probably will. What the heck does LIDO stand for?

It's German for stupid chart. Approach plates that look like they were created by 5th graders.

Most airlines use Jepps charts, Pinnacle use Lido's. It' just another company for enroute/approach charts

Lido/eRouteManual - Lufthansa Systems

Intresting...thanks for the link.

Flynhog 05-17-2011 05:37 PM

It stands for Lufthansa Integrated Dispatch Operations (Not sure about the operations but I believe thats correct).

I use only two of the standard black binders you can get from ops. Yes, they all fit in two binders granted you take out the charts that aren't on the LEP. You can squeeze the LIDO's into two black binders and have room left over for your trusty FOM or whatever else tickles your fancy.

I have a coyote works bag, I broke my lido's down into three Jepp leather binders, have my cfm and then a thin trip book and my telex on top of them, fits fine, snug but a little wiggle room. I would suggest a trip book or at least a small binder for MEM, MSP, DTW, and JFK since you will be using these daily

Sturbmaster 05-17-2011 06:37 PM

See if you can get 3 binders (like the cfm/fom) from the tech pups people the charts will fit good into them. Or do as a lot of guys do and get 3 jepp binders.

I have a coyote works bag and my set up is, 3 jepp binders for lidos, my CFM FOM and a 1.5 inch binder with all the hubs and my current trip, and my telex headset. All fits in real nice. Welcome to pncl we need every body we can get right now.

Are you on the heavy? I have all the things you listed minus the FOM, there is no room, how are you making that happen?

you must be a F'in ace at Tetris!
All I can fit are 2 large Jepp binders, a 1 inch Jepp binder for hubs/often used cities, FOM and headset. I gotta carry my CFM in my suitcase!

Silver02ex 05-18-2011 05:52 AM

Here's my set up... I never have issues pulling any binders out

8" Scott Leather case
(3) 2" Binders
(1) 1" Trip binder
FOM
CFM

Funny!

Many years ago, when Airbus was being introduced to the World, we Americans (Boeing/McDonald operators) thought of it as something designed by 5th graders, and claims of 'inferior desing/quality' were heard loudly everywhere! (I am sure you'd give your left n** to fly an A320 or a variant now, won't you!)

You're right, I'd be ecstatic to fly an Airbus A320. Or a 737. Frankly, I don't care. But if I get to fly an Airbus, it means I've been hired at a major and can leave the cut-throat bottom-dollar regional airline industry. You're correct I'd love to fly a Bus, but for a very different reason than your stated reason.

Dislike a brand of charts is a little different than turning down a job because they fly an Airbus or an 737. I also have an opinion on Lido's and I prefer Jepps, but i'm not going to quit my job at Pinnacle because they switch to Lido's. Lido's are great if they are use how it's suppose to, which is in EFB, and not having a fold out charts for places like Hancock, MI, where these's only about 4 flights in and out of there. I don't know what the Airbus have anything to do with it. They guy didn't say anything how he dislike Airbus.

Tried what he did a few years ago. Since then we have been adding LIDOs. Don't get it. I think he photo shopped that pic.

Mine looks the exact same with a mag light also in a corner. Everything fits but it's tight.

Blueskies21 05-18-2011 03:52 PM

I put mine in 4 Jepp binders, might seem like overkill but I don't like them super bulging. The problem with the black binders they give you is they are too long or wide depending on your terminology. The black ones are like an inch longer than jepps so they don't fit two wide in your case. If you use the jepps you can put two chart binders and a cfm or fom per side, and once you're off OE you can take your fom out and have spare space. It's tight but they fit that way. The lidos fit in three binders if you try. Two? Sounds crazy to me.

At my airline, that is a nogo, non MELable item

CRJPilot 05-21-2011 08:48 PM

I have 2 Jepp binders and the smaller office depot binder for hub cities. I can fit those 3 plus CFM and FOM with a flashlight and Telex 850 as well as a small LIDO revision tightly in my Scott bag.:D

I didn't like the company issued plastic binders for several reasons, couldnt fit them into bag, they are slick and ended up dropping them all the time and I didn't like slicing my fingers on the sharp edges.

When can I pick up my Ipad? ;)

Really? come on. I'm trying to help the guy out, why would I photoshop that? I've been having the same set up ever since we switch from Jepps to Lidos
