Big Sky Airlines

There is something going on with Big Sky Airlines does anybody know anything? Has anybody heard any rumors?

POPA 09-19-2006 01:44 PM

They've moved a pair of 1900s down to FLL to codeshare with Chalk's. The President is under a mandate from the owner to double the company's operations within the next year.
(This info came directly from the President during my interview with the airline back in July.)

mtjoe1900 09-19-2006 02:13 PM

but they moved that plane back to MT and no sign of starting with Chalks yet

They are upgrading and hiring way too many pilots. Something is going on but nobody seems to know what. There is a lot of speculation though.

I heard from an inside source that they were buying a whole slew of 1900's, and were hiring to put crews in them. Something is in the cooker.

I was reading some of these other threads and the theory about skyways sounds interesting. Has anybody heard anymore about that?

There are close to 60 people in the pool.

So i'm sitting in one of the term's at KDEN during some pretty crappy weather, I look out the window to the active rwy and see a slew of at least five B1900's on final, and I say to myself ... I hate the Beech 1900 and anyone who would make an airline out of them.

Obviously, you've never flown the 1900. It's a fun bird, and an amazing performer...no matter how ugly it may be.

Without the blowhole, and noses that can kill sharks!

 Metro any day over the 1900. It is just more exciting when you have to tell your wife you love her every day you leave for work just in case you don't return that night!

mtjoe1900 02-14-2007 11:56 AM

Nick have you noticed any dispatchers that left Big Sky?

No, why? A lot become pilots at Big Sky but as far as them leaving for somewhere else I couldn't tell ya.

mtjoe1900 02-14-2007 12:06 PM

I left to get my currency back but hoping to come back to Big Sky but it does not sound good.

It's the same old Big Sky. I think they just hired a couple new dispatchers from Skywest but if they're fully staffed I don't know. You as well as I know that the only reason any of the people that are here and have been here for a while stay is because of Montana.

Has anyone heard if Big Sky will base pilots in Boston for the Delta Connection operation or will they be based at the out-stations similar to Colgan's 1900D operation? I've heard they fly trips and overnight for their northwest operation, just wondering what they're planning for the expansion...

Pilot base in Boston

Could change any second...

PICTimeWanted 02-14-2007 03:09 PM

Thanks...just trying to decide if its worth getting PIC time at their pay living in Boston. Hate to be stuck there if a bigger and better job doesn't happen before hiring comes to a halt with this age 65 rule.
