Hey republic guys

I am an Army Reservist and Republic new hire FO. I just came back from annual training. Do I get my Min guarantee for the 2 weeks I was away.

You have your contract? There's a whole section in there about min-guarantee and when/how it is reduced.

No. If it was a pre-award in PBS, then you get 4 hours credit for each day away towards meeting your min guarantee. Your guarantee will be adjusted to what your remaining flight schedule is. If you dropped the 2 weeks after the PBS award, you lose 2.5 hours of credit towards guarantee for every day away. So if you were on MIL Leave for 14 days, you're new guarantee would be 75hrs-14days*2.5hrs=40 hours min guarantee.

Hope that helps. Feel free to PM me if you have any other military related questions.

+1...Also, make sure you check the Pro Rate days off page in FLICA and make sure they give you the proper amount of days off. I turn my drill dates in far in advance, but occasionally it still gets messed up. If it does, give Crew Planning a call as soon as you catch it. They've been good about getting it fixed for me. Good luck!

You know Local 357 has a webite, right?

And I too grow weary of people calling me so I can read the contract out loud to them. Assume SOME responsibility and just TRY to find the answer before posting or calling. If someone has done their research and is still confused, I'm more than willing to help. If they haven't bothered to look at the contract on their own, I don't call them back.

thanks dad.

Next time just ask where to look for it in the contract...we've all been there. It just comes out better if you ask where to find it as opposed to what does it say.

Guys cut him some slack...dude said he was a new-hire, he probably didn't know.

Point him to the section and/or page of the CBA that addresses military leave and be done with it...

Just like when you used to ask your teacher how to spell and word and she would give you the first few letters so that you could know where to start in the dictionary.

......teach a man to fish.......

I understand the frustration with folks who don't want to help themselves...but...as an elected representative for your pilot group you have taken on the responsibility to help...if you want to call them back and say here's where it is, go read it...fine, say that...but to not call them back, as a union rep...I will definatly not be voting for you in a future election...and not because of FAPA vs. 357 (I'd vote for a FAPA guy if I believe he is more qualified than a 357) but because of comments like this.

This F9 dude is quite the customer service rep. If a new guy hasn't taken the time to look up the contract maybe cut him a little slack and get off your high horse. This is exactly the sort of attitude that is ruining this industry and making it difficult at the airline. You're part of the problem dude. Point someone to the right direction if you are too frustrated or lazy to do sow thing about it. Don't act like you're too good or bitter to do something for a new guy. Have a little more common decency. As a new guy and former military myself I appreciate and expect the guidance of the folks that have been there for a while and might be able to offer a couple words to point me in the right direction. You should know better. Hope you have a better attitude in your airbus.

No kidding. We definitely have our share of guys who would rather spend the energy being prickish instead of helpful. Who knows why.
