Skywest Transition/upgrade
Can bro captains transition directly into the jet as captain?
I have been hearing 4-5 years for captain on the bro and 5-6 years for captain on the jet, so if a bro captain upgraded after 5 years, and was captain for 3 years after, could he then bid for a captain position on the jet, and would a 3 year bro caption upgrading to the jet, start at 3rd year jet captain pay? |
It is not "bro". There is not an "o" in "Brasilia". Please call it what it supposed to be called....weedwacker, turbo taco, mexican king air, whatever, anything but "bro". Whoever came up with that name should be shot.
Yes you can transition to the RJ and you remain at the pay scale of whatever years of service you have. |

Many guys do that. |
It's not like mesa and some other other airlines, after your seatlock is up (1 year) you can bid any position your seniority can hold, including going backwards if you wanted to.

C'mon bro, dont call it bro. |

Bro 2: Bro, nothing, bro, nothing going on bro. Bro 1: Bro, you wanna get together and just chill? Bro 2: Yeah bro, maybe we can just bro out!! Bro 1: Yeah bro lets go to my room and talk about it. I can't wait to bro out with you, bro!!! |
"Portuguese Death Trawler" was my favorite when I worked with Embooger 120 pilots. "Broke-zilla" and the aforementioned "Burrito Bomber" were acceptable substitutes. "Bro" was a quick way to identify yourself as someone who failed out of the SKW interview process.

(I think I might have some special insight on this one...):D ~Taco |
The name came from the west coast crews that fly it. Particularly SAN/SBA crews where Bro is common lingo amongst the guys that grew up here surfing, skating, dirt biking etc....It works on the West Coast....Only guys that seem to not like it are the nozzles from the east coast. Got it Bro?

It seems to me, at my company at least, it's called a Bro because it's a manly man's plane. You gotta fly the jo's, Beeches, and/or Tubes before you get in the left seat of the Bro.

I flew it for 3 years at SKYW and I never called it the Bro.
I called it the Brakillya. Guess that didn't stick. |
I prefer Broski, but it isn't catching on.

Aww come on..... The pilot union and current administration will totally prevent anything that will hurt our economy and future prosperity. With a little luck, we can raise the pilot retirement age to 75 so we can have long and fruitful careers.
