CHQ Houston base. Anything you've heard?
I have a chq interview next month and was wondering what you chq guys might know about a IAH base. Do you think it will be senior or junior for FOs? How many aircraft, what routes, etc.
Also, with 1950 TT, 700 jet, and 135 experience is there a chance I could be offered the 170 if hired? Any info/rumors you may have heard is much appreciated. Thanks! |
Others with better information can feel free to correct me...but I believe CAL's scope won't allow 170s to operate in the fleet unless they are flown by CAL.

This is what I know. As for Houston base, I believe that will be with the CRJ 200. Senior or junior? Who knows. I do not know if current employees can transfer to the right seat of the CRJ. So it may be all new hires. I am sure someone else can make more sense of it.
As for getting the EMB 170, you might. Your time will not affect their decision(kind of, if less then 1500 total, no way you will see the 170). They will put you in whatever equipment they need you. You are put into a pool if hired. You will also learn that the pool does not guarrentee employment(although I would not sweat it). |
You are correct!

They have a CRJ base out for bid in IAH. However, the CRJ classes have been pushed back 5 days, I think twice. Who knows why... As far as F/O staffing on the CRJ, it will be newbies, as F/Os are seatlocked until upgrade. 24 airplanes, but I don't know of any routes. The first airplane is supposed to go online in Jan, so I guess DEC 12, we'll know the routes. I don't know what the 170 mins are, I haven't been hired here in a LONG time. If you meet the mins, you could be offered a slot. My recommendation is take the first slot you get. If you get several options, take the one that can get you home. I think there will be movement in all airplanes as the 24 growth CRJs show up with the 30 growth 175s. Good Luck!! |
One of my friends interviewed two weeks ago and one of the first things out of Linda's mouth during the welcome was that they were not hiring for the 170s at this time - we're only hiring for Chautauqua. Of course, who knows how the wind will blow next month!

A CRJ in Continental colors... that's gonna look pretty cool. Can't wait to see it for myself.

I bet the Express Jet guys can't wait too see it either. Have a little sympathy, even I a lowly mesa employee feel for them. |

It'll be cool Timmy you can fire it up on FlightSim 2004 and fly all the routes the X-jet guys used too.
