Another note why would you or anyone else that still works at Mesa believe anything JO says?

When you are gaining from another person's demise, be ready for some heat.

Plus, SKW is not Southwest, everyone does not love you...especially as much as you seem to love yourselves.

People vote with their feet. Skywest probably has the most people that come from other regionals. I bet there are more mesa pilots at skywest than at mesa. You could probably count on one hand how many people went from skywest to another regional.

On the flip side: We are (and have been) seeing a marked reduction in our benefits here at SKW. We are working much harder with fewer options than in the past. I want to say this is due to rapid growth but I realize that there are many other factors. Still, when I look at most of the regional/national industry, SkyWest seems to be among the more attractive options.
I'm sure we'd all like to be were the growth is at the moment.

While I agree that we are no Southwest... love (even for one's self) is not a forced emotion. The bottom line is, a-lot of us enjoy working here for various reasons. Some of those reasons go well beyond our pay scales, which BTW aren't really that bad in comparison.

I can only speak for myself (single/no kids), but i have the PPO plan and it has worked out well for me. Better than some other PPO plans i have had in the past. Other who have families may want to chime in.

My take is that a company that pays and treats it's employees better, is prospering over a company that is corrupt and an terrible place to work. Of course its sad for the Mesa pilots that have stayed, but why is this a loss for our industry?

It is. I used to work at Mesa and now work at SkyWest. Yes on paper the pay rates seem somewhat similar but add in work rules and SkyWest blows Mesa out of the water. I will make as much at Skywest on 1st year pay as I did at Mesa on 3rd year. Add in better quality of life, no union dues, and less for medical coverage, its a pretty substantial difference. It's sad though because Mesa could have been a great place to work.

Would have been easier to "blend" the whole family. But the bottom line is we are glad to have insurance and have the company pay for part of it.
