Look, I believe most people are in agreement that we are all better off as one, rather than 3 separate companies. This thread is about the poor quality of the lines at Colgan for the past two months. They are decidedly worse than they've EVER been; and not coincidentally, it just so happens the past two months, the Mesaba people have been running the line construction.

So, again, please spare us with the Mesaba will save everything about our crappy operation rhetoric. Because, at least for now, that's not happening. Do I expect it to continue? No, of course not. I do believe the Mesaba influence will do great things for our operation, in time. However, we bring many positives to this game as well. This is a collaborative effort and we should be trying to use the best of each of our operations to make the new one the best it can be.

Get over myself?

I'm not the one compaining about something that has nothing to do with the current contract.

And trust me, I don't think Mesaba is the be all end all anything, this company sucks as much as anyone else.

What we do have is union guys that when they get the chance of creating the pairings, will do everything possible to make it better.

Kinda hard to listen to anyone at 9L complain about QOL and gains. Every single pilot at 9L was a few inches short of winning the lottery. You can't have your cake and eat it to and then ask for XJ's and 9E's. If you've been at 9L for 5 years then you have the senority to improve your QOL. You will get no sympathy here. How about the 7-8 year XJ guys who will most likely take a hit after displacements. QOL? Keep your complaints in the crew rooms.

What?!? Yet another outsider trying to chime in on something you don't have little clue as to what you're talking about. It doesn't matter if you have 10+ yrs. here.....there is no hope of improving QOL for the past month and the next due to poor quality line construction. Plain and simple! That is all this thread is about.

To suggest someone keeps their complaints in the crew rooms......

IBTL

October's lines for IAD should be a lot better since the base is overstaffed... for FO's at least...

Negative sir, for someone who has had to deal with this company and its line construction, pbs, days off, bs lines, poor QOL for the past 5 years, I know exactly what I'm talking about. There are others in this thread, if you have read it through, who are blaming this contract and Mesaba schedulers for your oh so horrible 12 days off. Just as the post I responded to said... get used to it. No one is blaming Colgan pilots for what they gained or didn't gain. Its like the FedEx and UPS guys complaining, sure they may have a point, but the rest of us don't want to hear it. Especially after we've been drug through mud for the last 6 years. Just like the NFL players raising up their fingers before games last year, no one else has sympathy. Admit it or not, but the Colgan pilots gained far and beyond the most out this contract and ISL and to still hear guys complaining is silly and it just serves to stir the pot. Tell me who suffered at Colgan? All of your captains, even those junior to 9E and XJ fo's now have bidding power to come over to an airplane that gives them a 23094809% raise and QOL increases. We don't want to hear it. I'm not talking to the guy who said something about lines. 12 days off?? Cry me a river. There are guys on the 9E side who have had 8-10 for the last three years and you hardly ever heard a peep out of them (maybe because they were too busy flying). Its like someone came and handed you a check for a million dollars and youre complaining because its not a million and one. No one is going to have sympathy for an airline that gained the most overnight than any other in the history of history. I'm not saying to bow down and thank anyone, but be thankful that your QOL/Pay has improved. Be thankful that your airline has grown at the expense of another, at least remember and understand what has gotten your airline where it is. If we were truly "brothers" than thats how it would be, but no. There will be toes stepped on and jobs taken because of this and trust me it won't be pretty. You think its going to be a fun four day trip when you come over to an airplane that you didn't have the option of flying before all of this and you have literally taken the job of the guy next to you who has been working at it longer?? Yea, this is are a real sore spot for me, especially when people don't realize just how good they have it. Take your complaints to Comair and listen to what they have to say. There are guys over there with 30 years in this prison who can barely hold 11 days off. Get used to it, get over it, and stop whining. I sure hope some of the Colgan pilots I've read on this forum don't speak for the majority. Rant over.... for now.

Do you feel better now?

Yawn..... I'm out.....for all you non-Colgan guys, please feel free to continue your commentary on something that has zero impact on you. ;)

Not THIS captain. I may have bidding power to get a "23094809%" raise, but I'll keep my QOL and my dirty little Saab. You can keep MSP, DTW, and ATL all to yourself.

Yea a little bit, what I was talking about has a large impact on me. You guys can say you're not moving all you want, but we'll see what happens when the vacancies start flying. I hope I eat my words.

George Dubya 08-14-2011 07:11 PM

The lines suck.

Bingo! Also if it is in your line, you can't ignore a phone call or refuse the draft. Our fearless leaders have won a double-header.

I doubt they will wish they hadn't done it. Calling fatigued takes action on the pilot's part: some won't do it, others remember the "Family Oriented" Colgan and get nervous. As for sick calls, everybody knows you pilots are just a bunch of slackers who convert sick time into "sickations". The company might as well flog you now so you burn your sick time and won't have any to use during the holidays.

I resent that. Never called in sick in my life.

My comment was meant as a management quote. Either you are not catching my sarcasm or I am not catching yours.... or you have an incredible constitution.

On a side note, now that Colgan is no longer a bottom feeder, and our Mesaba and Pinnacle brethren have given us this contract, I submit we are not bottom feeders, but rather, we are Leeches.
Viva la revolution, Viva los Leeches!

Now come on Colgan guys. You all know with the contract we took all and gave none. ;) Here is a clip which shows how it went down:

CJC

Oh yeah, Mesaba built lines suck

For what its worth, I apologize to most of the colgan guys for my rant. None of this is directly your fault, its just a very very very hard pill for me to swallow. Im sure it is for others as well.

At the beginning of the trip I let my crew know I've got the first round. If they order a Bud or a PBR, I'll keep buying. But if they order the Grey Goose Apple-tini, they better make it last.

Sorry, but I don't have the SWA 1-2-3 rule or their contract.

1 point management! I knew that at the implementation of this contract the company would incur huge labor costs associated with understaffing. I figured they would rush to increase staffing levels. i never even considered that they would blatantly screw their pilots. This does not bode well at all for the operation. The pilots will be run down, angry and suffer epic low morale. You'll never see an hungry, tired, beat down army win any wars.

But of course... I said beer... Not tutti fruitti or whatever the hottest clubbing drink is at the present for an FA... on special occasions I have been known to splurgeand order a round of Johnny Walker Green/Gold... And I typically dont care if the FA likes it or not because if they dont want it I am more than happy to savor a gentlemans drink by myself.

For the sake of Colgan pilots, I hope you do too. For not bringing anything to the table, I bet there won't be a shortage of reserve Pinnacle/Mesaba pilots who'll be more than happy to come on over to Colgan and be a line holder. It'd be a short sighted move IMO, but a ****ty line with 11-12 days off is better than reserve, I suppose:rolleyes:

blah, blah, blah... Who cares? It is what it is. All this line movement and predictions going on doesn't change the way I drink my beer. And for the record... We brought something to the table... Haven't you seen the FA's we've got on the Q.... Chuck hired'em right ;)

JSH, I believe I missed your sarcasm. Must have been the tone of the thread that made me take offense. I really havent called in sick, I try to keep myself pretty healthy. Not saying that it wont happen in the future and then I'm sure I will be glad to have the time saved up.
