The worst thing about this is that these kids are not being encouraged to go to college.

Offering incentives to further fill the world with idiots - FAIL.

See, there won't be a pilot shortage (qualified is another story). You can see the writing on the wall, there are programs for other vocations where a hospital or other institution will help you with the cost of college or training and in return you owe them a certain amount of years of work. Look at GLA, they have a training contract... They get you in class and train you with low time, then once you are trained you owe them a 15 month commitment firths money they invested in you. Airline managers can be smarter than we give them credit, they are getting the tax payers to pay part of the training their future employees are receiving!

Ummm... Did you actually read the article?? They do this in high school and it pits them 7 credits ahead when they attend that particular COLLEGE. It is a college program for high schoolers that requires them to attend that college after high school. This isn't a direct hire out of high school. You need to go back and reread the article.

I quit reading after I saw 10th, 11th, 12th grade and "almost guaranteed job."

I have better things to do than read an article about all the idiots who are going to be airline pilots in 7 years.

“But students realize that is an investment in their future,” Wilson said, adding that senior pilots can make more than $100,000 a year.

Speaking of vomit...
