Keep Out
Sky club, world club whatever, you'd better stay out. It appears daddy delta doesn't want us in there even if we cover our uniform. What a crock ...
There's nothin like feeling the love from Delta. How much lifting do the regionals do for them? I guess it doesn't matter. It's no wonder passengers complain so much, they treat everyone like... |

This comes from people going in and acting like idiots... drinking out of control.. taking food out etc etc... from what I "hear" it has a lot to do with FAs going in and getting smashed then passing out in the crewrooms.

Are you guys talking about the First-Class Lounges at the airport? /break/ Are you going on something coming from your company? Or Delta? I have a membership and have only gotten a generic memo from my company... not Delta. |

Are you guys talking about the First-Class Lounges at the airport? Yes Delta allows staff to buy sky club passes for the year at a reduced cost even to its regional partners... so just as you would imagine it got totally abused. |

As far as I know, as long as you pay for membership and are not in uniform you are allowed access to the facilities. Haven't heard anything changing to that effect, but who knows.
I guess it's worth it if you spend long periods of times waiting at the airport. |

I guess it's worth it if you spend long periods of times waiting at the airport. So im sure the next step will be people listing for a flight to get a ticket and then just not showing up at the gate... so give it a couple of months and the lounge will be totally blocked for staff. Always takes a few to ruin it for all. |
Nevermind.

You gotta spend enough time locked up in tube with them, why go hang out with them on rhe ground? |
i didnt know it was so forbidden to go in these clubs as a employee. made that mistake one time...ill never do that again. whew...talk about a turd in the punch bowl.
|
Why don't we fix the problem offenders? Tired of paying the price for the idiots. Is this not common sense?

I bet you all feel appreciated.

If you were an actual paying customer for those lounges, why in the world would you want employees sitting around you. You'd get one of 2 things.
1. The class of an airline employee does not match the class of the people in those lounges, which seems to be the case here. 2. The paying passengers go in there to get away from complaining whining people, toss a FA or pilot in there and you just loss that. That guy that wrote the article in the usa today last year hit it dead on. The guys piece was about how he sits in the airport and can't get away from airline employees complaining no matter where he sits. He went on to say if you don't like your job then quit. Before you say "maybe he should stop buying the cheap ticket" Remember its your company that sets those prices (the prices on price line, etc. are also on the company site) Or before you say if I got paid more I wouldn't complain (yes we would, what else can we talk about for 4 days) remember you took the job knowing how bad it was. I personally agree that employees shouldn't be allowed to mingle with the customers, its not good business. One disgruntled employee in those lounges can cost the company a lot of money. PS, before someone says company man. I despise Delta, Barely have ever like any company I have worked for, and the only reason I like my new job is because I'm new again. |
I used the DL Lounge in ATL once (back when I was at OH) to turn in an ASAP for the flight from hell.

Good to hear you landed back on your feet Samballs. Just curious, where did you end up? |
Wow is it just Delta that has been throwing a fit? I got a President's Club membership as soon as I came to work here and have used it a ton with coworkers even immediately after work. Never had an issue.
|
This does suck, I use it all the time, I am never in uniform and am always polite. Mostly just use it to get away from the crew rooms. Sometimes they can get to be a bit much with all the complaining from crews.
But I knew it would never last. Too many people knew about it and abused it. |
I agree, it was most likely some crews that abused it, acted like clowns and ruined it for the few of us that have some self control.
Now, these same people will whine and complain and say delta is so mean to us RJ crews and what not, despite it is due to their own bad behavior. I honestly I am sick of flying with a lot of people at this airline who act like kids everywhere. Causing trouble for hotel staff, yelling at van drivers, abusing the breakfasts and taking 12 hard boiled eggs to eat late (yes, this happened). Want to be treated like a professional adult, act like one for a change. Rant over, I'm tired of this. |

When I was at NetJets we had guys tossed out of those clubs while in uniform who had paid, non-discounted memberships. It's not just limited to regional pilots, it's uniformed pilots in general. Delta seemed to be the worst.
|
Its not delta that is mad, its our regional management. Nothing has changed on Delta's end. Better be careful, don't want to be the example for this policy.

There's nothin like feeling the love from Delta. How much lifting do the regionals do for them? I guess it doesn't matter. It's no wonder passengers complain so much, they treat everyone like... 1) Rules intended to scare gullible/fearful sheep into compliance. These rules are often uneforceable/illegal grounds for termination or discipline (which the company knows), and the company will never actually enforce them (that would take too much manpower, which costs money, and expose the company to legal claims, which costs even more money). 2) Rules that are actually legally-enforceable, which in aviation usually means having something to do with safety, or something explicitly addressed in a contract. These types of rules would actually stand up in court as a stated reason for termination/discipline. Most rules issued at 9e are Type 1 rules. No middle manager will ever actually do anything to enforce them-it's just there to show Delta that 9e is being a good little boy and doing what daddy tells him. If anyone actually gets in trouble for going into the Skyclub on a sit, tell them to cite this reg-unless per diem is equal to minimum wage, I'd say they can't legally tell you you can't go into the Skyclub (assuming you have a legit membership). 29 CFR 785.16 and 29 CFR 785.17 C. Waiting or On-Call Time By logical extension, if this were a legal policy, the company could similarly tell you you can't go to Hudson News to buy a magazine because some noobie FO ate too many Flipz on airport reserve and puked on all the copies of Good Housekeeping, irritating a first class DAL passenger from Savannah, eliciting a complaint to Daddy Delta. |
