I have not seen, heard, or read about any age change with respect to holding an ATP. I do not think that requirement is on the negotiating table. Besides, if it was, the government is trying to make the standards more strict, not the other way around.

So assuming a pilot satisfies the new Part 121 flight time and experience requirements, as well as all ATP flight requirements and experience, you're saying that Congress & FAA also wants to exclude all 21/22 age new "rules" qualified pilots from Part 121 flying until they are 23? I do not believe that was the intent of Congress or the FAA with the new flight time and flight experience "rules"....time to modify ATP minimum age to 21 during the implementation process of Sections 215 & 216 of new requirements.
Current ATP mins: no less. |
I don't think they should come down... but you're assuming everyone wants to work until 65.
The way I would see it is not 42 or 44 but being able to finish earlier so I don't have to work until I am 65. |

Why? 42 years flying 121 isn't enough? You need 44 years?
Current ATP mins: no less. btw, if min age 23 for ATP certificate remains, the employed airline pilots that are not 23 by August 2, 2013 are either furloughed or fired, as they don't meet "current ATP mins", or....?? |

Perhaps the will allow the letter thing. I had passed the ATP written, met all the hour requirements and passed the ATP flight test with an FAA employee from the GADO (pre FSDO time). They typed up (on a manual typewriter) a letter stating I met ALL ATP requirements except the age and once I became age 23 I could present the letter to the FAA and receive my ATP certificates. |

Good luck with that. There are too few people in that boat for anyone in Washington to even care. Take your furlough like a man, and go back to where you belong: college. Personally, I don't have an issue with 20 year old FO's (but no 20 year old captains!) |

"Though the FAA may propose alternative hour requirements for a restricted privileges ATP,....." http://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviat.../InFO10024.pdf assume from your comments you think the ink on my ratings/certificates is still wet.....sorry to disappoint, but after 40 years it's dry. :) |
