Come on, give the guy a break. Besides, hotel points could be worth enough to be a significant percentage of first year regional FO pay!;)

geez tough crowd tonite.....you want the truth about hotel points? You can't handle the truth! :)

If you want to rack up hotel points, frequent flyer miles, and savings bonds (avfuel) then you need to apply to either one of the fractionals or a busy 135 charter outfit. You normally won't get any of that working in the 121 world.

Well, not so sure about that. If his crash pad is a hotel room then I'm sure he'll rack up points. That's about the only way a regional pilot's gonna earn hotel rewards, besides using a credit card. I've had some give me points with a company paid hotel. It wasn't direct billed so that helped.

Sounds like you'd be a perfect fit over at Gojets.

Most (or probably all) regionals negotiate cut-rate hotel contracts which invariably do not award points. Saves the airline a few bucks.

The only way you get points is if the receptionist is nice to you...can't hurt to ask, sometimes the'll do it.

But I suspect the only airline pilots who get points are those who do exotic foreign layovers. But not even sure about that.

At XJT, some of our hotels give points and some of them don't. It depends on what we negotiate with the hotel. In some cases, some hotels don't even treat us like human beings. I've had many a front desk clerk tell me the reason we watched the van drive off was because "he had guests". Sometimes, we're not even guests. Welcome to the world of the 121 regional.

etflies 10-24-2011 06:46 PM

Most of our hotels don't, in fact I believe the one remaining hotel that did is an overnight we no longer have. We do get treated well by the hotels we stay in though, not sure if I've been lucky or if my mileage just varies that much. I've yet to be treated like a "second class" guest.

Can anybody tell me which regional has the best crew rooms?

Your significant other will pay your bills, but you worry about hotel points?

You want to make aviation a career, but you don't care about money?

Sounds like you are looking for a hobby, not a career. Please do us all a favor: either rethink your priorities, or buy a Mooney and be happy sucking off your gal's (or guy's) financial teat.
