Comair ???

I need more info on Comair. Is the junior base JFK GSO MCO or CVG? What is their day off per month minimum? Should I plan on reserve for a long period of time? Is commuting a possibility or should I just plan on moving the whole family? I feel that I would enjoy Comair but need to be 100% on moving from my current position as a 1900 captain.

THX :)

Aeropilot, I don't know enough about your situation but unless you're looking for Comair as a final career move, I don't think I'd trade your current job building multi-turbine PIC for Comair SIC time. Do you have some company in mind that specifically wants turbo-fan time over turbo-prop? Best wishes in whatever you decide.

Aeropilot,
I will do the best I can to answer your questions. The most junior base will probably end up being JFK. Right now new hires are getting all bases except MCO. The most junior FO in MCO is close to 4 years of seniority. Hiring is really picking up. They can not get enough people through training. They needed new hires yesterday. Due to that fact, if based in JFK, it would not be long until you could bid out. Reserve will only be a few months. About 60% of our crews are commuters. It just comes down to quality of life when you to chose to commute. We have pilots that commute from all over the US. From what I have heard, we have an FO that commutes from Tokyo. I hope this helps a little. PM me with anymore questions I can help you with.

Comair hiring update

1 class every Monday of approx 10-12 pilots. Lately the new-hires have been going to the JFK base.

Receiving 10 add'l CRJs. In negotiations for more; hiring would pick up accordingly.

How to apply; minimums:

thx

Thanks for the info. Interview is in August. I will definetly give it my best.
;)

Good luck with the interview. New senority list just out. Classes are running a CONSISTANT 10-12 per month. No real sign of slowing down as those of us in MCO are being deadheaded to fly trips out of CVG because they are so short. If this hiring rate keeps up, reserve will be about 3-4 months in CVG.

made it through interview got the offer but now need to decide between skywest and comair

upgrade affects?

With all the hiring and crew shortages any ideas on how this will affect their upgrade times? Are the shortages just on the FO side or both seats? Any reasons for this other than expansion? Climate n such?
And hypothetically (:D ), if you had 2000tt, 1200tubine fwme, and 500pic starting with Comair in their current situation, what would you be looking at for upgrade time, either airframe.

Neosporin 08-18-2005 08:29 PM

the airframe is considered the same as far as upgrade min. req. junior plane will be the 100/200.

junior capt now is jfk: 3yrs 6 mo.
gso: 3yrs 8 mo.

who knows what will be good in 6 months.

go to SKW before the merge.
