Great Lakes

So all the threads are from 2009. So here goes.... Interview scheduled. From people that WORK there. What to expect. Not so much interview wise but QOL in general. Advice? Feel free to keep all the "don't go" comments to your self. I'll make my own decision on that one.

Thanks in advance.

Hate to say it but I read a lot of those post. Many of them are from folks currently working there. Try to stay calm on the boards. I use to be in a position to hire people. You never know who is looking and how easy it is to find out who is who on here when looking through a stack of resumes.

All I was looking for was a little advice from the inside. Like " if you have to take an out station then prescott isn't bad" or " whatever you do avoid Farmington". Stuff like that. I plan to move to live in base but I've never lived out west. In my opinion that's the only way to stay sane at a regional. I'm aware of what has been said about the airline , training and all that. But this isn't my first time to the rodio. Just wanted a little conversation.... That's what forums are for right?

Yes - that is what forums are for and your questions are valid. At the same time, please realize that your questions have been asked and answered many times over, and for regular forum goers it does get frustrating if you even try to answer the same questions over and over, hear that every poster has different circumstances (they usually don't), and say that they have done a search and found no information (they they probably haven't and all the information is right there).

Farmington is a really cool town. I'm not sure why it would be avoided. If you like outdoor activities and plan to live in base, FMN is great.

During my time in FMN I fished at Navajo Reservoir, tubed in the Animas river, went rock crawling just outside of town, did some trap shooting, and enjoyed beautiful weather nearly all year.

When I was based on ORD I was broke and saddled with $600/mo crash pad rent, $25 meals, no chance to enjoy the outdoors, and surrounded with the most vile liberals this nation has to offer.

And, Durango is just a short hop over the state line. My thoughts have been with QOL over pay. FMN has better QOL than almost any big city base.

Thanks guys. I was using Farmington as an example only. I really have no idea what the west is like. I've spent my whole life up and down the east coast from Pittsburgh to Tampa! I love the outdoors which is why I want to come out west. I really want to fly in Alaska but with all flat land time that's pretty tough to get. Hence the Great Lakes move.
