everybody can't wait to get that sic turboprop time. man its so valuable that normal single pilot ops don't even require you to be there. As far as great lakes is concerned you are just an overpaid sack of potatoes.

Everyone wants turbine time but everyone also wants a dry place to sleep and food. Those last two are the reason why I didn't go to Great Lakes. |
I don't see how people do it. I am paying below market rent and it's still 12k.YR. 3K remaining for EVERYTHING else? Not going to happen.

Why every thread has to turn into why you shouldn't work for some place instead of just answering the persons question is beyond me...
No cover letter needed. Just send it. Hope you get it. Good luck. And since the topic was opened... Not everyone needs the money. Sometimes their circumstances are such that their career decisions are based on where that want to live or the type of flying they want to do. We all know regional pay is low. It doesn't need to be brought up in every freaking thread on this forum. As a fellow pilot, If you want Great Lakes then I hope you get it... |
Any cover letter or resume written for Great Lakes should be sent on used toilet paper. Why give them the good stuff when they don't reciprocate with good pay?

Yea 15,300 is horrible, nobody's gonna argue that. But when you upgrade in 10 months and your making $29/hour, I'd say that's worth it. Not only are you making enough to live on, but your also staking up that pic time that you wouldn't see for another 6 years at other regionals. To each their own, i know for some people 1st year pay is not livable, but for someone in their early 20's who doesn't have a whole lot, I'd say it's not a bad move. Nobody goes to lakes to stay for any amount of time. Lakes is a stepping stone that's going to get you to that job with a major faster than any other regional can. You can dog the place all you want, but let's talk ten years down the road and see how are careers have played out. That conversation will probably be taking place in the cockpit at some major, and guess who's more than likely going to be sitting on the left seat. Money isn't everything for some people, and if your picking your regional based on where you could make the most money, then good luck but I've got plans to move past the regionals and then I'll start worrying about my pay check.
