Insights on training at RAH
 

Before I ask my questions let me say this first...I know there are lots of people on this site that just puke out negativity so don't bother posting the usual bs please.

Anywho...

1. Where do they do indoc/long term training?
2. What is the pay like during training (ex. Monthly Guarantee, per diem etc)
***I know pay is fuzzy right now, but best guesses are appreciated
3. Do you know if they ask you to give up your seniority number at another airline?

As you can tell I am still new to all this and yes...I am one of the 50 getting furloughed at Eagle.

Don't have much choice...gotta trade one broken airline for another...

Indoc is in IND. Systems and sim training are usually at FSI in STL, though occasionally other facilities are used if STL is full. If I recall correctly, you get lodging and per diem only at first, then monthly guarantee kicks in. No idea about seniority resignation. Good luck ...

No you do not have to give up seniority, but remember they make you sign a 2 year commitment.

I think the PD for the first month is $400/wk. After 30 days I believe you start making your 75hrs/mo guarantee.

That's all fuzzy as I went through in Feb 2007 and left Sept 2011. When I went through we only got $180/wk (I think).

If Republic is broken like you say, why bother going there?

Is Republic the only Airline to offer you an interview/class date?

You also get to feel like you're at summer camp as a child and share a room with another grown man. Pay is $400 week per diem so it's best for you to start unemployment prior to starting as you can at least survive on both.

As you are coming from a place with real training you will be amazed at how poor the training is. Nothing against the instructors, they do a good job with crappy facilities, poor manuals and very little tools to do the job. They are really stuck in a turboprop checking mentality instead of training environment. The training isn't difficult but there are some lifer tools who really have no business in the checking department

Please tell me you aren't advocating peoplevto double dip and collect unemployment while in training? If so that's pathetic and is what's wrong with people in this country.

It doesn't work that way either. You can collect unemployment while working, but it won't be the full amount of unemployment.

Sad as it is, I made more on unemployment than you'd make in RAH training. It's my wife's turn on UI now, but she is making less. $456 as opposed to $290 / wk.

Food stamps would be more appropriate while in training if you qualify.

I know how unemployment works, but just because it might be legal doesn't mean you should.
