Pinnacle travel benefits/military leave

I am about to go on military leave for 2+ years from Pinnacle and wondering what my travel benefits/CASS status is going to be. Does anyone have a definitive answer? I've gotten a few different ones within the company, which is why I am asking here. What about if I get furloughed WHILE on military leave. Do I lose CASS/travel benefits at that point? Thanks!

It should be spelled out in your contract. USERRA only protects your job (i.e. seniority, longevity, etc.) Most likely, if your seniority number is furloughed, you'll be subject to any provisions ALPA negotiates. HTH.

USEERA does not directly address this, but it DOES require that any benefits made available to employees on other types of leave are also available to those on mil leave. I've seen/heard a wide range from nothing to everything, but I think an airline is not supposed to leave you in CASS since they don't know your medical status. SKW lets me keep all other non-rev bennies.

I'm on the Colgan side, so YMMV simply because when I was looking into this two years ago, I was told that whether you get to retain your nonrev benefits depend on the mainline that you feed, that it wasn't Colgan's say. In other words, if Delta allows nonrev benefits while on mil leave, then you'll keep it. For us, I was told only Continental allows it, but not United or US Airways (this was before the UAL/CAL merger) so if you were on the Qs for example you'd keep the benefits but not if you were flying Saabs on the United side. None of this really made sense to me because like rickair said, I thought USERRA allowed me to keep benefits... But anyway, I've been on leave since last year and they did take away CASS, but I retained Continental/United nonreving benefits. I don't know if this is concurrent with what I've been told regarding Continental two years ago, or if Colgan simply forgot to deactivate my account (good possibility, considering how disorganized everything is).

Nobody ever said anything about UAL taking bennies away, I still have them.

CASS will be gone... With Delta I'm gonna have to assume they will pull it, but I dont know that for sure.

I work at Mesa and have been on Mil leave for 3+ years. They took me out of CASS within a week of Mil leave starting but I have retained my benefits to fly US Airways. I was furloughed while on MIL leave and all benefits were stopped. I was then recalled while on Mil leave and my benefits have started again but still without the CASS. Non Rev benefits are as if I am working there.

Sorry to resurrect this form - Does Piedmont allow flight benefits to be maintained if called to active orders and having to move to another base? PSA and Mainline US keep theirs but can't find where Piedmont does. Pretty sure CASS will be toast.

Sorry to resurrect this one yet again, but has anyone had experience with this at American Eagle? Do you still have access to D2s while on military leave?

Slim11 05-13-2013 03:13 AM

During my days at AMR, I kept D2 while on military leave. Off-line travel was on a case-by-case basis...some carriers allowed non-rev travel when others did not. This was also back in the 1980s-1990s. Back then, I was allowed to keep my airline ID while on leave. If you are on orders for a long period of time, will they allow you to retain your airline ID?
