Is this the future of our pilot pool?
 

I don't know much about it, but the way that GoJet (and other similar companies) hire the first guys who knock on the door seems to be a dire future for all.

They hire guys at a much cheaper rate and wh0re them out to actual airlines, by disguising their planes in the real airlines' liveries.

If I'm not mistaken, this rids the actual airline (which to the travelling public appears to be the employer of these employees) of all responsibility when it comes to pay and entitlements, and I'm sure the contracts are much more limiting this way. Thoughts?

Hmmm, let's see. A new guy, who has only posted once (this posting), asking opinions about a very volatile issue around here, and naming a company not well regarded. What to think of this?................

Not sure what the number of posts has to do with anything but I only moved to the US 5 months ago. It is a very different pay structure here (hourly, very little in the way of allowances, and little/no overtime).

I guess the question I am asking is "Will this become the norm?" and I hope it won't.

I was actually hired as a baggage handler for a major airline back home whilst waiting for pilot recruitment to pick up again, but I quickly realised I had been hired as part of a new company to bypass the current workplace agreement. Not only did my co-workers disrespect me but I was expected to do more work for less money. Needless to say, I left within weeks to avoid being outcast, and also to avoid supporting the cause. I just think that if that's the way some airlines hire their pilots, it is certainly a way to break up the current agreements... not that they seem too great as they are.

And you didn't search to find the 20,000 posts on this subject? Do you really have to ask? You aren't able to do simple math using the pay-rates?

Simple math?

What math is there to do? They pay less... Duh. I have seen the figures, hence the raising of the question, will it become the norm?

Will the pilot body let it become the norm?

I'm assuming/hoping that with the increase in required hours / 65 year olds going around now, there should be more bargaining leverage.
