This looks like a very useful site, but the performance section isn't available. I would be more than happy to compensate someone for their time if they could help me get this info.

You couldn't find any drying paint to watch anywhere? It just finished raining at my house. i am sure the grass will be growing soon. That ought to keep you busy for a while.

I can't start an airline until I figure out how much gas is gonna cost me.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiight!

Anybody with enough money lying around (and dumb enough to spend it) to start an airline probably would be smart enough not to go to a pilot message board for input.

How old are you? Have you ever seen a grown man naked?

haha... I knew someone would bite. If this board is good for nothing else it's a great source of entertainment.

Maybe he is considering it for corporate, rather then an airline?

Don't feed the troll. I am sure if he were a well heeled entrepreneur with a boatload of money he can afford to set on fire that he would just call an airplane broker.

Why anybody would want to risk any money in aviation is beyond me.

Yeah because SAAB 340 brokers always have manuals lying around since their typical buyer knows nothing about the aircraft. haha... more entertainment... keep it coming.

Oh btw, I still need the info. Or, if someone has the manuals they want to sell me, that would work.

You can either purchase an AFM in hard copy. The price is 1266.00 USD, with extra for revision service. Or you can purchase the Flight web with all the Flight Operations Manuals, price is 5950.00 for year.

This is 2010 prices. Call SAAB below if you care

So funny. If flight planning was this simple.

Call it 2 hours and 2500 pounds burned. No go base your business model on those exact figures.

Do those big name universities ever assign students a "build an airline" Projects? Unless I missed the fact that hes seriously looking to start the next Colgan.

We did one at UND. I'm pretty sure that is what most of these are. Why go find primary source information for yourself when you can just ask someone and take their word for it?

I think Juice's numbers are way off. 500nm leg?

1) Fuel Burn = 8200 deciliters
2) Flight Time (No Wind) = 39 mins
3) BFL, Hot & High (5000' 30C MTOW) = 10,000 feet, assuming dry pavement and it's not a weekday.

/sarcasm

These shoot-from-the-hip numbers are useless, but thanks for the effort. I specifically asked for hard numbers from the manual and offered to compensate for the effort. It seems that it would be logical to conclude that a forum full of starving airline pilots with easy access to this information would be a good place to save some money on this info. However, I obviously failed to account for the arrogance among this group when I reached this conclusion. I will buy a manual. Enjoy your Ramen Noodles.

If I had access to the numbers, I'd hook you up for half the price of that manual. But I don't. Good luck with whatever it is you're doing :)

P.S. Here's a freebie: Don't burn bridges or p!ss people off in this industry, it's a very small world.

Saabs 05-21-2012 08:10 PM

Hahaha I remember when I flew the Saab. Weight restricted, always hot, yet five times more fun than the q400 to fly. God I miss it

Sorry dude, just doesn't pass the smell test. If you are looking for serious numbers for a legitimate purpose, this isn't the way to get them (or the way any rational, sane person would get them). But thank you, I DO enjoy Ramen Noodles!

CaptainCarl, well played sir! If I was a hat guy, it would be off to you!:D

The answer to every question you asked is right here under Sector Performance on the Saab leasing website.

Saab Aircraft Leasing

Look where it says 500nm leg and read your answers.

Not sure why everyone is giving you a hard time, its not like your asking for top secret stuff here. Anyway, feel free to PM if you need anything else.

BizPilot 05-22-2012 07:21 AM

found this on a website:

Average of 1000 -1100 lbs an hour for the mighty Saab "whisper jet" 340. That ain't per engine by the way.

Now it's been a few years, but I remember about 800 per side in cruise and about 600 holding.

either that or hes just taking the airline manager app on faceobook way too seriously?

grahamlax 05-22-2012 05:07 PM

colgan plans 1,200 pounds/hour total. In real life, it burns 1,100 pounds/hour unless your run it at company max (840 ITT) the whole time, then it does burn the 1,200 lbs.

grahamlax 05-22-2012 05:08 PM

i still fly the airplane, these are today's numbers on old SF340 B models
