$25 for advise?

I was at my flight school today, waiting for my next student to come in, when an older guy came in with two younger guys. He asked to speak to the chief pilot, so I got the chief CFI for him. He wanted to offer a seminar, of sorts, to the CFIs and anyone else who is interested for $25 a head. Our school has a newsletter, where one of our CFIs-turned-airline pilot wrote an article on his transition from teaching to flying 121. This guy that came in wanted to charge us to tell us how to go from teaching to flying 121 without being overwhelmed. Apparently, he is some retired pilot and instructor and the two other guys were his students.

I thought that this was sort of strange. Who would pay $25 to hear that? I would like to hear what you all think. Isn't ground school supposed to help with that transition? Also, can't I get the same information here, from you guys? For free?

once you get a 121 job they will tell you all you need to know and if they don't you will learn it on the line. Keep your money and keep the students comming in so they can buy your time.

This guy sounds like an enterprising fellow. $25 bucks a head? Yeah that sounds about right. Low enough to get people in, high enough to make it worthwhile.

Yes, ground school can be challenging for CFI's, thats why airlines like people with 4 year degrees: proven ability to actually study. A $25 seminar won't teach you anything you had better already know.

My advice:
Undercut him and charge $20 per person, then when the class is assembled, just write down the link to this site on the board and walk off to the bank.

-by the way... that'll be $10 please
