Asa/skyw

Although Skywest bought ASA, and they are still operating under two different operating certificates, "IF" I were interested in working for ASA, would I apply directly to them or would I apply to Skywest?

I wasn't exactly sure. I appreciate any help.

They still operate as two completely different companies as far as that goes. Apply directly to ASA. You can do it through www.skywest.com and then go to the bottom of the page where it links you under the title careers.

"IF" should not even be thought about.

Current ASA FO's are coming to SKYW . That should be a big red flag to you.

I stopped reading about the whole thing because my blood just boils. I think, unfortunantly, things at ASA may get worse before they get better.

There's nothing wrong with ASA, it's uglier there than it should be at the moment because they desperately need to update their contract, but it'll be a good airline again. It's just that right now, the growth is at SkyWest and they're a top quality regional to work for too.

Isn't ASA going to furlough because SkyWest is taking their planes? I thought I read somewhere that the pilots were going from 1700 down to 1200 in the next year?

Supposedly they're hiring A LITTLE in order to cover the people leaving, but nothing substantial.

ASA has lost 82 pilots in the last month. They are now starting classes becuase of the attrition. It is said that this will continue through the first half of '07.

Not true. No mentions have been made of furlough, and we are running two new hire classes in Nov. Hiring is expected to continue through the Spring.

That said, anyone who would come to ASA right now is nuts. You WILL NOT upgrade for 6 years unless something drastic changes. Skywest are upgrading in 1 year.

I don't think that regionals can be considered "airlines". They don't fly under their own name and they don't sell their own tickets. I think "contractor" would be more appropriate. Also, to use "good" when speaking of a regional is an oxymoron:rolleyes:

Why are you reading the regionals board? Go back to your own forum haha
