Smile!

Try it. You might like it. Can't hurt. Plus, people will smile back. Life's too short to be angry and rude all the time.

:)

As an old friend used to say, when you smile, the whole world smiles with you. When you fart - well, you're on your own.

Understood.

Now PCLCREW, I'm about to take a 100% paycut (yes all of it) on sept 27 when Comair shuts down. Yet I still find a reason to be pleasant to others because they didn't cause this, nor it is their problem.

Yep, Ive been through that too... Nothing to smile about

BitterOHFO 08-20-2012 07:22 PM

I smiled at a Gojet crew in DTW when I returned from CHS after covering one of their flights tonight! I also smiled because I don't have to do that anymore after we shutdown next month! After next month their real colors will show now that Comair isn't there to bail them out anymore. It will be everyone else's problem!

It's easy enough to be pleasant,
When life hums along like a song.
But the man worth while,
Is the man who can smile,
When everything goes dead wrong.

Sorry to hear about your situation, it sucks, I know.

One last ride to prove my worth. Tomorrow marks the end of training and a long awaited return to the line.

StrikeTime 08-21-2012 01:14 AM

I smile at GoJet crews as well. Whatever was going through their head when they put that uniform on just makes me laugh.

Since members seem to have taken a thread about smiling and have tried to turn into a GoJet thread, let this serve as the first warning of the consequences for any of the foolishness prevalent in other such threads of late.

Yeah, I bet all the GoJet guys should of been warned about their foolishness prevalent in the regional industry, but ruhh roh, they didn't :(

captain152 08-21-2012 05:35 AM

Congrats Carl!!

Where ya flying these days if you don't mind me asking?

dirtysidedown 08-21-2012 05:40 AM

I had the biggest smile on my face the last day I had to fly at my regional pilot job and went to fly corporate 5 years ago. I still have that smile,I may have to go to plastic surgeon to have it removed.:D

First enjoy it. Second, why would you want it removed?. Third, if you really want it totally gone, get divorced.

I'm one of those, but the first 6-12 months....nothing but **** and vinegar my friend. It takes a while to smile after you find yourself with 372 dls to your name while crashing on a friend's couch.

You may think I'm crazy, but I still love flying and it puts a smile on my face every time I do it. Everything else is crap because of it, the love for flying is a freaking disease, it's a drug that ruins everything else, but I still love it and can't get enough of it.

Now I'm going to bed with a smile on my face!!

I really am glad that flying puts a smile on your face. Flying a trip with pilots whom are happy, makes this job much easier, but this is a job. Please do not forget that. Flying the -145 into DCA on the river visual on a clear night with no A/P or F/D is a blast. What concerns me, is you believe, and are okay with Silverwings 'ruining everything else.' Your friends, families, and hobbies, are what will make you happy long term. Do not for get that, otherwise you will wake up one morning and flying will not be filling that void. Continue enjoying flying, but more importantly, enjoy your time not flying - more. That way when the flying becomes not so exciting, and not so addicting, and you find yourself questioning your career, you do not become disappointed. You have a job that you enjoy, and the time off and money to peruse your real passions and relationships.

Good luck!

Former Waterskier, correct. Now I barge around the sky hopelessly in something a little more fun. The difference now is that I am true to my name :)
