Somehow the experience of regional pilots will be blamed to take the heat off TSA...

RJ Pilot 08-22-2012 12:25 PM

That crazy security ***** at Eagle will have a heart attack because of this.

Or smuggling drugs, stealing out of suitcases, or fighting who's break time it is.

Man taken into custody...

Updated Story
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Baton Rouge police officers surrounded a plane at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport after a man locked himself in the cockpit.

The man has been taken into custody. His name has not been released.

According to a witness, an American Eagle flight landed at the airport just before 12:30 p.m.

That witness said he was one of the last people to exit the plane after a flight from Houston landed.

The witness added another man who was not on the flight appeared to push through other passengers, run down the jetway and get on that plane.

Airport spokesman Jim Caldwell confirmed the man locked himself in the cockpit.

Since the man was in the gate section of the airport, it appears he was a ticketed passenger.

The airport remained open during the ordeal.

BRPD, Metro Airport police and the FBI are investigating.

As a BTR commuter it WASN'T ME!:D But yeah the commute does suck. I guess things were getting boring here. I read they cut off the power and air to get him out. Nothing like a 110 degree airplane to get someone out quickly.

Cockpit of a 145 with no recirc APU or ground A/C?

110?

That's a freezer in hell compared to what that damn greenhouse gets up to. 130 would be the minimum after 10-15 minutes.

EDIT: Wait...you knew that...haha how are ya man?

That, or they're DMI'd.

Of all airline's for it to happen too....Eagle crews are nazis about keeping the a/c door locked if a pilot is not on the airplane, therefore, I'm sure Hitler over at centerport in DFW will have a pilot's head rolling for that one.

80% of the time, the ground air does nothing. I'm thinking that's why they left the door open in the first place...or they could have done the smart thing and use the APU, then keep the door closed.

Looks like its time for tsa to stomp off some more of your tat probes and pitots as part of their security tests. I'm sure there were plenty of smurfs on the scene texting and yelling incoherently.

crewdawg 08-22-2012 07:36 PM

Name not being released...undercover internal test... ;)

tomgoodman 08-22-2012 08:06 PM

Hypoxia will do it every time

Tonight's local TV news reported: "After a four-hour standoff, authorities cut off power and oxygen to the airplane, and the suspect surrendered." :p

Senior Skipper 08-22-2012 08:11 PM

They cut off the oxygen too huh? Isn't that a bit like waterboarding?

JamesNoBrakes 08-22-2012 09:13 PM

So...can he log PIC? If it's only him in there...right?

Senior Skipper 08-22-2012 09:31 PM

Only if he had an ATP.

727gm 08-22-2012 11:20 PM

Now he can put he has flown an EMB on his app. News says he was a passenger about to go to DFW. I guess he wanted to push early.:D
