Reserve Month with Training

Looks like I'll be back on reserve next month, got a few questions for you guys and gals.

I'll be pretty senior on rsv and thus probably not working too much, but scheduled for 20 hours of recurrent training mid month. I'm wondering if I should bid a schedule to have those days off, or if its better to bid one that has those days scheduled? Basically I don't want to get screwed and have them add random rsv days to make up for my training days.

Looks like I have a Tuesday-Saturday training block (including positive space travel).

Thanks in advance.

Translation: I'm going backwards in my career and will once again be an apprentices apprentice.

Some people go through this several times in their career. And never make it to not being in an apprentice position. Still trying to figure out what everyone sees and why they are so glad to do it. I get the whole gotta have a job thing but I can think of many easier ways to make money. With a more promising future too:cool:.

Sorry man, just venting on behalf of your position.

Really depends on your company, your contract, and your crew schedulers. I have the same thing this month and I chose to have it on days I was scheduled reserve. We have a contractual 10 days off min so if they added any more days somewhere else then they would owe me days off. It works for me because it gives me something scheduled on those days and it's not like I get used on reserve really anyways so they aren't in a hurry to screw me on it. But again depends on the company and the contract. And yes I agree it sucks the whole industry sucks and I think about getting out every day lol. Good luck!

Way to not answer the question and also add nothing to the discussion.

It probably depends on your company. We have a certain number of days off that we're required to have per month on reserve. They wouldn't be able to just fill the rest of the month up with reserve. I would say bid a schedule that gives you whatever days off that you want and then hope they don't change it on you too much. Your days in training will probably count as days on duty and not days off so they may not even change your bid much.

Your training days should count as working days, i.e. days that you are on duty so you will have 3 days that you do not have to sit reserve that you would normally have had to. Congratulations.:)
