That's what happens when you read it and get excited. Make a thread. Then read a second time! Ha!

AMR purchases 200 new Embraer regional jets
do they consider E-190s regional jets?

Misleading title fixed.

Top News UPDATE 2-Embraer sees sales rebound on U.S. orders, new aircraft Wed, Dec 12 14:42 PM EST Embraer is in preliminary talks with American Eagle, which can now fly more than 200 jets with up to 76 seats, Silva said... Where does it say that AMR is buying 200 planes? It says that they are now allowed to operate up to 200 jets. They are in talks with "American Eagle". Is that the old AE (the company), or the new AE (the brand)? |
What r you quoting? Who said AE?
"Embraer is in "preliminary talks" with American Airlines on that contract, Silva added." |
I'm quoting the article you linked to.
EDIT: It seems the site has changed the content. Your original post has "UPDATE 1" while mine has "UPDATE 2". I bet these same people publish the Jepps...:) |
Okay SJS kids, take it easy. The industry is messed up enough without everybody wondering who's gonna get to fly the EMB190s for $21,000/year and only further ruining their own career prospects. If anybody gets to fly "large" RJs for American, it will litterally kill the need for (real) American to hire for a long long time. But, hey, at least the jets are indeed neat and shiny.
|
Well,,, so Compass, RAH are the only ones with E-jet program. Unless American Eagle have already started the process backdoors.

I can tell you who's NOT going to be flying these airplanes....

Let's hope that if they do, that the "group" flying them are pilots at American Airlines.... and not the feed/contract carriers (aka regionals). |

(Also, those SJS kids tell everyone they "fly for American Airlines" anyway. I can't even begin to count the amount of people I hear or see do it on Facebook. It does make one laugh just a bit though :) |

I just didn't have time to elaborate because I was in line at wal-mart buying more hair gel  |
I bet they put the 175s over 5 years at the current AMR Eagle and then bid out all the other flying to other airlines who have extra 50 seaters. They get a good exchange rate on these things with EMJ while trading in all the EMJs we have now. Just a guess, but it matches the planned 210ish planes planned to be at current Eagle, and the price of 50 seat feed is going to a good deal going forward.

The 190 or 195 to fit in with US airways

Truthfully I'm embarrassed to say who I work for and most people don't understand anyway. It's been hell trying to get a mainline job the last ten years if you haven't noticed. So let the kids lie a little bit. It doesn't hurt anybody unless there acting like asses. And your not a better person or pilot because you work for a mainline. Just remember that.

We have good pilots and people where I work. It's just sometimes i feel like I pulled up to the country club party in a green Pinto.

Anyway back to the subject. There was a news article on google several months ago about Republic and AA ordering 100 RJ's from Embraer. Did no one see this? Just from what I'm seeing now, I know there are quiet a few pilots on the streets, but most of these guys aren't showing up to these regional interviews. If regionals are having a hard time filling classes now, wait 3 years. Mainline will eventually get this flying back.
