The majority of Delta's pilots went to our military academies. No debt, other than the obligation to serve and fight. They are justifiably proud of being selected and having done well. The Air Force guys will tell you at the handshake, the Navy guys wait until your leg on the second day.
The richest man in the World went to the University of Mexico, working in his father's store and teaching programming to pay his way through. The second richest man never had to apply for his job. He created his own Company.
Among the skills learned in college is the ability to work with others. "Cooperate and graduate" as they say. More than half of my class had a Masters or graduate level certificate programs in their background. That was the competitive environment at the time.

Here is a scenario for you. I am a mid level captain. I will be downgraded to fo. I don't plan on taking leave so I will have to wait until I can hold captain again (probably sometime in 2015 or 2016) and then I am frozen for one year after upgrading so I'm looking at 2017 or 2018 before I even would have a chance at the interview

When I started reading this forum stream over the last day I got concerned about this "flow". After reading the bridge agreement in its entirety...to my DAL brother...stop worrying about crap pilots coming through. It won't happen at any higher rate than our own process has in the past. These pilots have to do all of DAY one....tests and panel, AND possible DAY 2! Also, the number of people taken is measured at the end of the year, NOT month to month. If they bridge interview 20 in one day they can tell all 20 NO. This is basically a guaranteed interview the way I see it. I'll bet if you are in general good health no DAY2, if bad health they reserve the right to send you through DAY2. There are plenty of good pilots at Pinnacle to get their small numbers they are looking for. For the Pinnacle pilot this is still an awesome asset in my opinion. Not to mention this is in addition to the Mesaba 100.
For someone at other DCI's this is not good. The remaining 2/3 of non LOA 9/10 positions will likely go to Military. IMO

This will only benifit Mesaba pilots and this is why. You have to be a captain to get the interview. Mesaba pilots are entitled to. 279 900 spots. Pinnacle is entitled to 95 spots, colgan is entitled to nothing. At 7 crews per plane there will be roughly 567 captains. That ratio will continue to exist for 4 more years. When mesabas 108 flow, they will be replaced with 108 Mesaba fos. While colgan and pinnacle displace. It will b challenging for colgan and pinnacle to gain their captain spots back because of this quota. And then once you upgrade you need a year in seat Even if you have already been a captain before/. I'm not knocking Mesaba pilots I'm just simply stating some facts feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

12 or 1/3 per month, whichever is lower through 2016. So basically a max of 12, could be less. Then 15 in 2017 and 20 in 2018 and beyond.
12 9E pilots x 12 months =144 x 4 years = 576
15 x 12 = 180 in 2017
20 x 12 = 240 a year x 5 years = 1200
Max hiring at delta over the next 10 years for 9E pilots under the bridge agreement:
576 + 180 + 1200 = 1956 pilots.
The problem with this is we have 2300 pilots and this is the absolute maximum possible hired.
If delta does not hire one month numbers go down. If 1/3 of the new hires in a month is less than 12, 15, or 20, given the year, then numbers go down.
We have heard delta will not hire in 2013. That reduces this number by 144 right off the bat. If they only hire 15 in a month in 2014 only 5 pinnacle pilots would be hired those months.
Delta has 3600 mandatory retirements in the next 10 years. 9E pilots will be restricted to a lot less than 1/3 of that because of the low hiring or no hiring months.

dont the mesaba flows go in addition to the pcl agreement? I dont think there are many left, but will add a few moving out in the early stages.

I'm going to ask this at a road show but until I can get to one: are we going to get to see in the beginning who is checking the box to sign up for this? In other words if not too many senior people sign up it may go quicker.
