Okay everyone- I know (first hand) that at the end of the day, $ (or lack thereof, more specifically) can make the pro pilot experience a rather glib one but to get back to the basics, IOW the reason we're all here still at the end of the day- I would love to hear what has been your favorite platform to fly- and/or what is the worst? CRJ? ERJ? E170+? Brasilia? Dash 8? Saab? (feel free to include some old equipment- metroliner, anyone? haha)

I've only got the Saab and 200 to compare, and the Saab was much more fun to fly. Sure the 200 has an APU so it's more comfortable, but the Saab flew low to the ground in and out of smaller airports, very little automation and was more involving. Also, no 2+ hr legs that make me feel like I'm going to fall asleep. It was more fun.

Props are fun, I miss FLYING a prop. With that said a jet that is doing 2hr+ legs is better QOL as you are not working off the clock as much, it is more comfy and has more automation. Now if that jet was at a mainline we would be in much better shape. As far as working I rather fly a jet, but if I wanted to fly I would want a prop any day.

Best Regional Bird Award goes to:
The American Crow.

But seriously the Beechcraft 1900D; a true regional aircraft. No flight attendant ...sort of . No LAV. No autopilot. Handles flawlessly. Lots of power. Carries its own weight in ice with no problem. Nice airplane. Hats off to Raytheon/Beechcraft. All the old RJs are just gutted biz jets with no range, weight issues, and ****ty seats. All the new RJs can hardly be called "regional" at all.

I've only flown the Saab and the 200/700. I like flying the 700. Plenty of power and comfortable. 2-4 legs a day is much better than 6-8 on the Saab but at the end of the day the Saab was the most fun to fly. Its a pilots airplane. Now its had its fair share of mx write ups since its old but that thing is a tank.

I liked the Dash-8. Had a good time flying that thing, easy to fly and it did the job

I also have only Saab and 700 to compare. 700 is more comfortable, better legs, better automation. However I miss the Saab. It was fun plane to fly despite its downfalls. Depends on what you want more. Fun plane or to be lazy and comfortable

I have flown the ATR72, CRJ200, CRJ700 and CRJ900.

CRJ900 I enjoyed the most. Very comfortable work environment due to dual FMS, ACARs, FADEC and good air conditioning. It was a nice plane to hand fly and had plenty of power to climb well at a high airspeed.

I do miss flying the Dash sometimes. It was a lot of fun to fly....now turning off the a/p and f/d elicits the same response as Luke turning off his targeting computer.

People think I'm crazy, but I like - and miss - those short legs. Lots of flying and makes the day go by fast. I'm already dreading this MCI turn I have to do on Tuesday, I don't know how you transcon guys do it sometimes.
