Someone took a big gulp too :)

jrmyl 11-16-2006 07:17 AM

Rigth now the only reason they need pilots is because over 30 a month are fleeing. I don't see any 900's in the future.

buffalopilot 11-16-2006 07:20 AM

maybe, but they are a great bunch of people and a great operation

good bennies, good pay

RJ Pilot 11-16-2006 07:28 AM

Once USAir buys Delta, Mesa will take over.....Careful

Yes, they are a great bunch of people. The operation has suffered as of late though. Crew scheduling especially, they are having a very difficult time retaining people, so most are very inexperienced.

As far as good bennies, not bad but the out of paycheck deductions keep increasing for the insurance items.
As far as good pay, we'll see about that in a couple of months.

buffalopilot 11-17-2006 05:56 AM

i got the call on thurs and interviewed wed but i didnt talk to them, they left a VM for me to call them. i am waiting for them to call back.

Ottopilot 11-17-2006 07:01 AM

"Baker thinks a US Airways/Delta merger would bode negatively for regional airlines in general because of the many partnerships that both airlines already have with such carriers, and he has doubts about the future of Comair in particular, he wrote in a separate report.

He called Erlanger-based Comair "the red-headed stepchild in the mix" that might shield other regional carriers from deeper cutbacks if the merger occurs.

"We believe that significant cuts (or perhaps a shutdown) may be in Comair's future," he wrote."

I hope the Comair pilots don't get screwed by all this. They had the ballz to strike for a good contract, they deserve better.

buffalopilot 11-17-2006 07:45 AM

I think US air changed their mind. Also i dont think the feds will allow it because of deregulation

de727ups 11-17-2006 09:10 AM

"they left a VM for me to call them. i am waiting for them to call back"

atp

BYUFlyr 11-20-2006 10:00 PM

Does anyone know if they are interviewing with less than 100 ME? I have close to 1000 TT, but not enough ME time (no ME students for me to use my expensive MEI).

azvandriver 11-20-2006 11:34 PM

atp written?

Is the ATP written required before the start of class? I have heard both that it is and that they will waive it. I have a friend that flies part time with my company that is an fo on the 700. He says several of the fo's coming on line don't have the ATP written completed.

Also, about the 100 hours multi minimum, I think the interview offers are generated by an automated system. I applied on a Saturday at 0915 and had an interview invitation at 1037. I have a friend with my exact qualifications + 5 hours of total time, but only 60 hours of multi time who has heard nothing. His resume was walked by a line pilot in addition to the airline apps application. So, I think the 100 multi is a hard minimum.

I have an interview on Dec 13, wish me luck. I have a Mesa interview on the 6th for practice.

That makes no sense. Are you suggesting that the feds haven't allowed any mergers since deregulation?!

Christ, how long does it take you guys to get a written done?! I started studying for it on Monday and took it on Thursday. Got a 74% but anything over 70 is just showing off:D

JetJocF14 11-21-2006 10:19 AM

Just had a buddy of mine hire on to Comair as a F/O and will be in the Dec 4 class. He retired from DAL early as a 757/767 Captain (age 50) to protect his retirement. Comair even said they might make him training chief pilot. Good guy. So study hard boys and girls.

Well, 74% is pretty poor if you ask me. But if that's good enough for you then congrats. I'll take my extra week to prepare for it.

Thanks for the info, I should probably pass the word to a buddy of mine who's over the 100 mark. As for me, it looks like I'll have to pull out the ol checkbook (again).

Hey good luck on Dec 13th!!

Like I said, anything more is just showing off:D The end result is the same if you get a 70% or 100%. If you feel like you need to ace the thing then go nuts, take your extra week. Just know that it means you are one week further down the list.

PS
I didn't put my score on my resume or anything because NO ONE CARES, just so long as the damn thing is done.

Hey jetjockF14,

First off Comair doesn't have a training chief pilot and they wouldn't let a new hire get anywhere near the training department (except as a student) until they had at least some experiance in the aircraft. Ask your buddy if he knows what the Comair people were smokin before they told him that.

I agree 74 is kinda rough but hey everybody knows what they call the guy who graduates last in his class at Medical School, A DR.!

hahah some of these post are so funny, I love you my airline brothers & sisters, all of you :)

JetJocF14 12-09-2006 04:57 AM

Hey SimCheck Guy: As I said my friend was retired from DAL as a 757/767 Captain and is now in class at Comair. He wants to get back into the game and is not some Cessna 150 pilot with his first airline job. I don't make the news just report it. Our policy at my cargo outfit is that we won't look at active pilots or retired pilots from certain airlines. At least untill our Chief pilot retires in January 07.

Three years ago I and everybody else thought US Air was done. It just goes to show that whatever the "experts" are saying, you can bet on the opposite happening. You never know....

"Meets Minimum Standards"...I did my written in `66 and scored a 78. No one cared then, and they don`t care now. BTW, no one has ever looked at my logbooks, ever. I found that strange.
