TSA or GoJets?
Ok guys/gals, don't beat me up too much. I have my airlineapps complete and have talked to TSA, but nothing from GoJets. The shooting range is open, so shoot away.
|
GoJets. Go to somewhere where your career will have a future instead of somewhere that your only option is to cry about how it doesn't and its someone else's fault.
|
Why don't you stay where you are if you're 744FO?
|
Where is that caption of the guy eating popcorn?
|
Hmmm that's like picking between syphilis or gonorrhea! Tough choice! I would choose abstinence and not go near flying for an airline!
|
If you have 4500 hours, or will before long then GoJet has alot to offer...upgrade to Captain could be months, not half a decade.
Commuting is the other big issue, who has a base near where you live? |

Sorry, in my opinion GoJet. I know it's hard to ask a question and get any useful information. Been there.
Recent GoJet class had tons of experience from all over the industry...Regional, ACMI, 91, 121. Good mix and lots of experience. Average probably 3000-4000 hours. Some with lots more. |

Gojet. Without a doubt. It's simply a more pleasant place to work.
There's been more mention of a UAL flow through also in a recent newsletter from management. For whatever thats worth. |

UAL flow through? Yeah that's been mentioned at TSA. Everyone believes that. Are you guys that naive?
|
|
Look at each of their contracts. Tsa's contract is better. And GoJet won't have a new contract for at least. 4-5 years and even then it'll be tsa-1.
|
Wherever you can get the first class date. I've heard TSA has openings in the next couple of classes, and GJ is getting backed up and could be a few months.
|
it is true the G7 is backed up a little. They just reduced a Feb class from 20 to 8 but then in March it is going to pick up again. TSA is getting more aircraft so they will reduce shrinkage and maybe even grow a little and I am happy that those guys have some good news for once. I do have some friends over there and have always been treated very well by TSA guys. If you do interview at TSA and they offer you a job G7 won't look at you. I think this is pretty much an unwritten agreement between the DO's which is understandable as they both need to hire pilots.
I would look at what base they have and which one works well for you and also consider that right now G7 has a quicker upgrade which could change you never know. But g7 upgraded EVERYONE that they could last month which was 40 pilots. There are no more cqfo's and the only pilots upgrading now are the ones that are finally meeting the 4500 hour (3500+1000 G7 time) requirement. So if you have the time chances are it is an instant upgrade. If you don't have the time you will fly here about 800-900 hours a year so add that into your plans. I do not know the reserve rules or the contract rules at TSA but at G7 the reserve rules.......I don't think we have reserve rules come to think of it. As far as the contract goes G7's contract is .199 of an inch thick and if you do not include the cover pages it is .180 thick (I measured it) so you get the idea. But I will say this and that is I have personally run into very few problems here at G7 you tote the line show up on time and don't abuse sick call you will have no issues. G7 has two FA's on each aircraft so twice the drama or fun or hell depending on how you look at it. Any other questions feel free to PM me.:D |

I see that the *games* have started again with the cute internet forum word games. For those of you new to the drama, or have forgotten since the last go-round, the posts will be deleted and reminders/infractions/or bans will be given as appropriate. |
Are you even looking at Eagle or ExpressJet? Both companies are much better than either TSA or GoJets.
|
TSA holdings owns 3 airlines... Look into Compass.
I know guys from my current airline that left and went to GoJet. They tell me that GoJet makes Pinnacle look good. If that's the case then I would stay away. Compass or Skywest. |

If you have the time to upgrade, (4,500 total, 1000 turbine, 1000 me) and live near a base, I would consider GoJet.
That said, with the current announcement from TSA, I think TSA wouldn't be a bad move either. Do what is best for you and your family. |

In answer to the OP's question, only one airline's pilots require the mods to delete posts and ban/suspend people to keep from hurting their feelings. It might behoove you to wonder why that is, and if you want to be a part of the group that has inspired so much dislike.
|
Considering you've flown a 400, why not look overseas at places like Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, etc.?
Far better cash, you'll upgrade on a heavy well before upgrading at a US regional with the exception of maybe GoJet, all while making good money as an FO. |
