Republic

What's the big picture here: PHL appears to have the most flights for Republic Airways, but no domicile? What am I missing?

The reason that PHL is not a domicile is due to mainline(USAirways). They will be basing their 190's out of PHL and once that happens the Republic flying out of PHL will probably ease off a little.

Is there a new domicile opening for Republic? (EMB 170 or 175)?

No. Although they have eternally talked of closing indy, it will never happen. The current RW bases are: PIT, IND, DCA. The 175's (two per month starting in 01/07) will be flying (mostly) out of PIT and (a little) out of Indy. Not sure about Reagan.

As a RW pilot, I'll chime in. The "HotMama" is mostly right. IND was slated to be closed for RW from Day 1, but it hasn't happened. All that means is the Boss has a reason. These guys don't waste long-run money. The 175s WON'T fly into/out of DCA since the slots are only for 76 seats. There will be 175s coming on to the property. Those are the only 175 FACTS available. No one knows where the planes are going (I don't think LCC knows yet.). I've heard several rumors from people that sign checks, but they aren't 100% about it. We will know about Jan 12th (when the FEB bids come out). For now, though, our 5 departures per day out of IND base will remain open.

FWIW, the RW bids are going more senior each posting.

Hopefully, our next contract will fix our basing structure....

Jerry, did you see the memo to the J4J guys. They can hold them up tp 9 months after their 12 month contract ends. Hope this doesn't put too much of a damper on movement for y'all:mad:

JerrySpringer 11-20-2006 11:19 AM

Actually, it will allow the movement to happen. It just takes awhile to train replacements. They are all upset, but you must honor both ends of the agreement. I think also, this will allow a smoother transition instead of the crazy rush we've become accustomed to.

Your buddy,
Jerry

Is DCA pretty big for at least 170? If an f/o gets based there, can he/she expect to gain seniority pretty fast? Or will the lack of emb175 ability stop expansion. I read a press release that Republic will be flying EMB 175 at DCA starting in Feb. So that was false, and if it IS false, are they at least bringing in more EMB 170's monthly? How safe is DCA as a domicile?

If you mean, is it gonna stay a dom.? Yes. e.g. IND has 12-14 lines, whereas DCA has somewhere in the 50's. If you were to get hired soon, I would say that you MIGHT sit reserve for 1 or MAYBE two months. They are gonna be REAL short on pilots soon.

How short? Are they looking at a hiring craze like XJT?

Captains are getting called on their days off to sit in the right seats, and RAH hasn't even started getting the 175's yet...that short.

We're short now as callbacks at all majors are going on, and hiring is spooling up at other (hint....Brown...hollla at a kid). We need to crew 54 new planes. 24 of those arrive Jan-Jun '07, with the remaining 30 Jan 07 to about MAR 08. That schedule will probably change to a more agressive schedule for the 30 175s. I think DCA will continue to be what it is. As the J4J folks filter out, the backfills will continue. Training will be a hectic pace for the next 2 years, barring a catastrophe.
