Atp written
I need to take the ATP written before my recurrent checkride. People were starting to throw out rumors that the FAA "secretly" changing the question bank on the 15th. Considering I will be on trip until then, I did not want to shell out the money for sheppard if the whole question bank would be different anyway.
Can anyone else substantiate this rumor? Thanks |
I know he has a vested interest in the product but why not just call SheppardAir. He was a pilot taining instrutor of mine and is a stand up guy. If he is getting reports of test question changes, I'm sure he would be doing something about it. Having said that I have a friend who just took his ATP (used SheppardAir), about a week or two ago, and passed no problem. Plus, worst case, there is the cash back guarantee.

2 weeks ago took ATP written again (1st expired) at ATPs at pie, no prior study. Walked in 0800, at 0830 cbt study, many breaks, 1425-1455 test. Score 84.
295 bucks but over and done with and no major study time involved. Have to admit, this question bank vs 7 years ago made sense. |
Do Shepard air. Did it 2 weeks ago. Studied for about. 2-3 days got a 90.

I've done the ATP written twice, first expired and I did my ATP checkride outside the airlines.
All ATP was the first I used and then Sheppard. All ATP was over a 90 and Sheppard below a 90 above 80. I got my money back on Sheppard. Overall I liked All ATP since I walked in and walked out, same day, done! No home study, just one day of ATP cram. |
Did shepard air about a month ago. Studied very lightly over course of 2-3 weeks - I couldnt do one of those all day crash courses. I got 100%. If you get less than 90%, you'll get your money back so worrying about the financial aspect should be a moot point.

If you get the Gleim computer version I think you can update it for new question banks. I had the same concern and Mr. Gleim himself told me not to worry when I purchased it from him at a trade show.

Yes, they will provide updates to any questions which change once they become aware of the change. Normally questions change occasionally and only a few at a time as errors are corrected/clarified and technology marches on. If you missed an update, it would probably not cause you to fail. But if the FAA changes the whole question bank overnight, nobody but the FAA will have the new questions initially so if they really are doing something drastic on the 15th, I'd wait for the dust to settle before taking the test. |
I wrote Sheppard Air about this since I am planning on taking the ATP next Monday so it got me a little concerned.
This is the response I got. Hi Ryan, It's just a rumor. These rumors always surface in January and February every year. If anything happens that is drastic that you need to know about for ATP, we will inform you about it immediately thru the Flight Test 5 software. But there is nothing to worry about. Please call or write anytime. Sincerely, Mike Stauffer, Sheppard Air, Inc. |
