The EXJ boys on this forum mentioned they are having similar issues.

Pretty sure the FedEx MEC can not purchase alcohol.

Wow !!!

I had heard of "legal" authorities, but I hadn't heard it has gone federal. Wherever the evidence takes them is where they should go. If the above is indeed the case, I can't believe national hasn't taken more action.....well, actually I can.

As I stated previously, it's my understanding it's not just the financial malfeasance, but intimidation and cover up, so perhaps it's beyond what other MEC's have done ?

I got a lot more info yesterday. It's my understanding that the Eagle MEC changed their policy to prohibit alcohol purchases due to financial issues... Then the leaders kept doing it anyway and turning in expense reports without showing the alcohol purchases but getting full reimbursement.
Somebody else says it rises to the level of fraud just as if they bought jewelry and lied about it on an expense report to get reimbursed.
If so, paying back the union may be the least of their problems.
My understanding is they got themselves a real gumshoe type ****ed off at them and he's on a mission to expose all of their misconduct, recover every penny they swiped, and has already brought in the Feds to investigate the fraud.

How ALPA National hasn't removed these guys is beyond me.

It's deper than that.

Unauthorized people getting meals paid for by union (wives)
Trips to liquiour stores and expensed as snacks
Late night trips to bars and expensed as snacks
1500-2000 dollar group meals with 40% of the cost being alcohol
It was always expenses by the MEC Chairman and immediately (within seconds) approved by the vice chairman so none could see the expense and vice-versa

ALPA national asked for an explanation and they blew it off, now ALPA is calling for reimbursement and they are conducting an audit as only two weeks or so have been looked over. Payment must be made by the end of the month and the authorities are now digging into it. Per ALPA this is something the department of labor would be all over and could lead to jail time. Since member of the union have summited the information to ALPA and the authorites ALPA national will come hard on these folks or set themselves up for another failed to represent law suit.

Amparently we could have an interem chairman in the coming days. The people involved were using the ALPA attorneys for counsel but now ALPA is cracking down in them so they will have to seek their own counsel. The chairman and followers made this personal with a few folks and now they have guys putting a lot of time and effort into sinking them.

Wow, that's even worse than I had heard. Are any of these clowns flowthrus or 824's?? I sure don't want them swinging gear for me. Heck, they shouldn't even hold ATP's if their moral character is that bad.

Buddy of mine is a realtor in Florida and was showing me the monthly list from the state of real estate license suspensions and revocations for even small little crimes. Fraud from your coworkers union money should bar them from holding any license requiring moral character.

Why haven't these guys just resigned their offices before this blew up?

Some of them fall in the 824. They were asked to resigned a few months ago and they just blew it off. During the last MEC meeting there was a recal vote schedule but a deal was made having the chairman admiring the violations, he would change the way reimbursements were made and apologize. After he was informed the membership had turned evidence in, the attorney informed the MEC that they shouldn't admit to any fault. They didn't but the recall was taken off the agenda as the MEC has the majority of lec reps on their side as most of them are part of the problem. But now ALPA national is separating themselves from the AE MEC as they see the legal implications. The company has helped these guys prolong their time in office as during MEC meeting we have members who don't really follow the MEC get check airman training or when heat is applied to the MEC chairman he attends training and pushing the MEC meeting down the road. But I guess now the company is distancing themselves from the guys.

It's a lonely place when the company distance themselves, ALPA national strips things from you and asks for further explanations and requests payments, your membership hates you, your lec members start to retrieve and the authorites start probing.
