Who has the best sched. bid system?
Since so many people seem to know so much about everyone else's system, lets hear the top 3, Who has the best "currently in use" sched. bid system (regional only)? Give a short reason for why or why not.
1.) 2.) 3.) |
The one that gives you the most time off while making the most money.

Asa vs XE! Can't wait!

I can tell you who doesn't, Pinnacle. If you're not top 40% in category you get min days off and max credit. Helps the pay check but you never have time off. 16+ and guarantee for top 40ish%.

What is Pinnacle using? Adopt? Easy button?

Not PSA. We do this weird two rounds of bidding, which not only sucks, but if you're a round two bidder you don't get your schedule till the 24th which really sucks, try making plans.

I like the pinnacle one. Lots of days off and good credit.

SKW has a few significant holes in the program and the rules that govern how it works.
But if you know what you're doing, you can do all right for yourself. But it's worth noting that the fundamental rule of computer programming applies in spades to PBS: GIGO (Garbage In = Garbage Out) If the pairings which are fed to PBS are crap, then it's going to be hard to for PBS to do any magic. Pairing construction is a separate issue. |

1) ExpressJet (L-XJT): Line bidding with vacation trip drop & add pay for pickups over vacation period. I'd love to have those provisions but we know the company won't ever sign a new contract with that much soft time. Fastest finger line improvement window allows junior bidders a chance at getting senior trips that drop into open time due to schedule conflicts; more socialistic but improves junior bidder QOL. Final schedules known very early in the month. 2) ExpressJet (L-ASA): PBS system & work rules that are generally considered the best in the regional segment (& better than some Majors). "Vacation low" provisions allow for large stretches of vacation time for all but reserve pilots. This provision is also unlikely to survive in its present form in a JCBA. Trips are awarded in seniority order with no globalization, although sort biases can dictate which equally desirable trip within a preference is awarded. Credit windows are wide & there are no monthly transition/integration days. Initial open time pickups/trades awarded in seniority order. After that I'm not sure. Systems that I once understood to be good at other carriers have been affected by bankruptcy, concessions, etc. I don't think there is much dispute about #1. I rank L-ASA #2 based on personal experience, conversations with pilots at other carriers, and contract provision comparisons put out by L-ASA ALPA during PBS LOA road shows. However I'm not that familiar with contract terms at Horizon, Air Wisconsin, or the PSA TA. |
