Payscales
I was wondering where these pay calculators get their info. I was on yahoo.com reading the news and they had a place to click to see how much you are making. I put in "Co-pilot small jet" and the median was $80k. Seems a little off. I don't know if this link will work but here it is.

From your link:
Job Description Co-Pilot (Small Jet): Assists captain of the aircraft (smaller than 12,500 pounds at takeoff) with flight duties. Assists captain in determining flight routes, speed, and take off and landing times to fulfill scheduling requirements. Must stay current with federal and local flight regulations. Must be capable of taking full control of aircraft while in flight. Possesses FAA pilot certificate with necessary type ratings. |
hmmm i was considering "small" to be something under 150K lol

A "light jet" is often a Citation 550 or a Beechjet.
A "medium jet" is a Hawker 800 or Citation Excel. A "super-midsize jet" is a Hawker Horizon or Citation Sovereign. A "large jet" gets you into Gulfstream/Legacy/F900/BBJ range, if I had to guess. In the airline world, any 'RJ' is considered a "small jet". Small compared to other airliners yes, small compared to bizjets not at all. There aren't many light jets outside of VLJs that are under 12.5; the most notable exception off the top of my head is the Cessna CJ series. |
Guessing they mean a co-pilot at a corporation
|
I always thought large jet meant 747.

Median salary of $80K for "co-pilots" flying jets under 12,500 pounds? Where do I sign up?

ATC Heavy = Airliners in the 767 range and up (not sure what the exact weight criteria is). |
just another example of public misconception about aviation
