Actually, major European carriers have done that for years. Lufthansa hires guys with no flying experience, sends them to Arizona for training up to Commercial, Instrument Multi and slams them into the right seat of a 737.

That photo has been in circulation for years. During USAir's second bankruptcy, mesa was seriously looking into taking over USAir 73 flying out of PIT. Mesa alpa refused JO's proposed 737 payscale (RJ + 10%) and that was the end of it. JO wouldn't do the deal without locking in RJ rates for the 73's.

Personally I have never actually seen a guppy-killer sticker. Are they for real?

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I think some people have FINALLY woken up and the scope erosion is coming to a halt.

Amen. And all those ********* RJ pilots who have "guppy killer" bag stickers with an RJ eating a guppy need to be taken to a dark corner of the ramp and be "re-educated".

Wow they have those stickers?

Seen a couple of floating around. Usually sported by the E170/190 crowd from what I gather.

Nick, i think you are right. I flew with a capt last week who swears that all the "regional" flying will be in-house(i.e. mainline, [the way Air canada does it with 175's e.g.]) in 5 years or so and MOST of these "regional" companies will be gone. :)

The people who have these stickers on their bags are losers. They think that flying a 170/190 is cool.Maybe it is, I don't know. What I do know is that the more of these planes that they fly(for a regional), the LESS their chances are of ever flying for UAL or NWA, e.g.

D@mn I remember being shown that photo during class when I was initial ground at Mesa (almost 3 years ago....). Im suprised it hasn't surfaced on this site before..... I guess it does make for somewhat of a sickening laugh though...

I flew with many of these 500 hour wonders when I flew in Europe. They were very book smart and could fly just fine as long as things were routine. They were not ready to upgrade (that is why I was there) but given a few years they will sit left seat very well, thank you. Skyhigh has been warning us about this forever. It is not that hard to be an airline pilot.
