Xjet/ASA/Skyw folks - Bail or Stay?

I thought it would be interesting to learn more about where my team members stand so...

** To clarify "STAYING", lets assume you are content here unless a miracle job offer comes along.

** To clarify "BAILING", lets assume that hiring picks up and in the next 3 years you can go to a job that you are reasonably expecting to be offered.

** To clarify "MERGED", lets assume ONE list, 2 year fences and some form of union even if a southwest SWAPA version.

Depends on what you mean by bail. I won't go to another regional, I'm happy where I am but I don't want to make it a career stop. If I can create the opportunity to move to a "mainline" carrier then I'll jump on it.

Delta, United, American, US Air, definately bail. Anything else, have to think about it. Would not go to another regional, even if SKYW imploded and I lost my job.

This is actually my last day at Xjet.. I'm really going to miss everyone here! I really have met some amazing people and it's kind of bittersweet.. I think I've been really lucky to have had this job over the years! Take care everyone :)

Where are you going?

Crj driver 06-20-2013 07:37 PM

United.. Writing that resignation letter was a little rough.. Ive learned so much from the people here and am really going to miss everyone..

somertime32 06-20-2013 07:58 PM

I'll be bailing faster than the Argentinians in 82!

Just to make the poll more in touch with reality...most lifers rarely to never get on these forums. So id imagine that with every vote to stay it really represents more like 5 times that.

Thinking about jumping from ASA to SKYW. Still on first year pay so won't be that much of a pay penalty and I should be able to move back west as I am originally from SoCal.

Do it, you've got nothing to lose.

Do it. Nothing to loose and everything to gain by being closer to home or even better, home based

What was the number of that trucking school?

Next month is my last at XJT, then on to United, ...only two more trips left!

Things are starting to move for people thats good. I never thought I would see the day when I would have to turn down a united interview because I already had a job. Only thing left is if delta decided to call.

As for myself. At 5+ years I think anywhere but a lateral move would be a mistake not to take. I think I would likely upgrade at most LLC's before I'll have the chance at ASA/ExpressJet.

If all goes as scheduled I should upgrade to CA at Spirit quicker than It would have taken me at XJT. This is by far the greatest job I ever had, getting out of the slavery & constant barrage of bull**** of everyday XJT life has made me a much more happy individual

I've been hearing that upgrade time at UAL is around 5 years with retirements (I realize all that could change in a heart beat..but still). Thats years quicker than at XJT i've been there over 7 with still no ability to upgrade.
