FCC Radio License
 

Hello everyone, I need some help with this. I'm a little confused to as which license I have to get in order to comply with the requirements of most Airlines. I went to the FCC's website but It got me confused as to which form I have to fill out. I think its form 605 but there are different worksheets in that form. Also, how much is the current price for it. Thanks for the help.

From the FCC website call the help number. The operator is very helpful and it costs about $65. You can print out the confirmation that you've applied for it and the actual license comes by mail in about a week or two.

You need to get a Restricted Radio Telephone OPERATORs License.

You must first register and establish an account:

or go directly for FCC form 605 to apply on-line (and establish an account). You use form 159 to pay the FCC.

Also, does anyone know if when you get your driving record does it need to be notorized? I'm trying to get all my paper work in order ... What a pain!

Unless the application specifically states "notorized copy" of your driving record, you should be okay with just a printout. I would recommend getting an updated record every 30 days or so while you are actively interviewing...

I know that in several states, you can do this by simply logging into the DMV website and paying a small administrative fee, then printing it out. (In VA I think it was $5 the last time I pulled my record up).

So when they say 5 yrs Driving record and I have held a FL license and now a GA license for the past 2.5 yrs does it mean I just need to get a 3 yrs driving record from FL or should I still get the 7 yrs record from FL. Thanks for the replies FlyerJosh, you're cool in my book. :)

Get it from both...you're never wrong with too much info (unless it's bad).

Get the 7 year report from FL...

I just finished the process... was painless. You register first and then go to forms pick the FCC 605 form log on and it will ask you some simple questions regarding address and some VERY simple questions asking you if you can read and speak. :) After that you have to file form 159 and you can pay with credit card, the cost was $60. Make sure you select when it ask you which type of license you want to select RR for Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit. Also when you register they will give you a number called (FRN) make sure you keep that number since you will need it to log in. Very simple...... THANKS to FlyerJosh for the initial info.

One question I have is how long do they take to send it to you? They didn't mention that.
