PDT CLT-Hilton Head

Hey fellas,

Do these flights go out weight restricted or anything to/from the island? Thinking of jumpseating down to spend a few days with the family there next week. Thanks!

All PDT flights in the dash 8 100 are weight restricted and they are restricted more coming out of HHH in the summer. If you are planning on renting a car there, than I suggest flying into Sav. Good luck

Thanks, I was hoping to fly into the island so my parents can pick me up there but I'll just do SAV if I have to

Assuming good weather we can usually take 34-35 into HHH and 30-31 out. Throw an alternate or two on there and it's a few less, a few kids and it can be 1-2 more.

I'm surprised the Dash is weight limited. When we went in there with the ATR, we could land full (66) and take off with 50-58.

Yet somehow the dash is still flying there and the ATR is not.

It's not really a HHH issue (inbound anyways), it's a Dash issue. We hit our zero fuel weight pretty quick. We can leave CLT (10,000 ft runway) and fly to GSP (10,000 ft runway) and still have to go with 3 empty seats, unless we have a few kids and/or light bags. The -300 can take 50 into but 30 ish out.

Pre airmidwest 5481, the dash 100 would take 37 and a jump quite regularly. After the accident average pax weights were changed to 184 lbs summer and 189 lbs for winter months. This restricts us on all flights since we regularly bump up against either the max zero fuel weight of 31,400 or, if our fuel load at takeoff is more than 3100 the MGTW.

The restriction out of HHH is an obstacle clearance restriction since the trees are kept high and there is almost no clear way. If they would just trim those trees and build a clear way we could probably take a normal load out.

I guess US Airways doesn't have the turboprop aversion that Delta does. As a hilarious side note, Delta was shocked when ASA told them there was no way we could take the -700 in there. They actually expected us to replace the ATR with it.
