Damn, you had 3,000 hours when you got hired by an Airline? Shhht, I was a Captain with that amount of time. Sounds like u wasted some years son and then some.
You finally a Captain @ PSA now?
Get off your damn pedestal.
It's currently a great time to be in the industry and advance quickly. These guys are looking to get their time quickly no matter the QOL.

You can get more time and not want to kill yourself by being a CFI etc instead of working at lakes. If you live in a base have at it, it probably wouldn't be bad. Have fun commuting though.
Keep in mind that these guys have a training contract that is going to keep you there for longer than you most likely want to be.
As far as me wasting time I finished college at a historically very unlucky time. Unfortunately there wa no hiring for years after I felt ready to go to the airlines.

I still don't agree with the 1500 hrs. I get that not a lot of people should be at the controls of a large jet. I have been lucky enough to have a couple of hundred hours of experience on several large jets. I also got my AGI but don't use it to teach or anything. I just want to fly.

The scariest actually had about 1200 but literally had people give up on me. I feel safer now. No guarantees as there will always be some duds but at least people get to slam their Cessna on for a few hundred hours before I have to fly with them.
Your inexperience exudes.

Don't really care if you agree. The years I had to fly with 3-1000 hour new to airline people was the scariest part of my career.

Don't care what you need to say! Same thing.

I can understand why someone with less than 1200 hours would go to lakes. It is an alternative to flight instructing or pipeline patrol and you are logging flight time that does increase your career potential. However, after you reach 1200 hours, I have no idea why you would stay. It is getting hard to find pilots who can fly a six pack with no auto pilot. There are quality operators out there looking for candidates that pay really well. Some of the freight operators are paying near regional captain rates. Some of them still pay and treat pilots like junk. Even if you have to pay back the hiring contract at Lakes you would sill make more at Encore Air Cargo. Metro captains salary starts in the 50k to 55K range with a 12k retention bonus. Also, 100% FULL pay through training. Someone with Great Lakes experience would do really well at this job and you are generally on duty only 4 or 5 hours a day.
