They do the same thing at XJT. When you are on reserve you get to designate a block of days off as "immovable". If scheduling works you into your "soft" days off they have to restore the day off later in the month and YOU get to pick which day it is (with certain restrictions, like you cant put a day off in the middle of block of 4 days on).
AWAC has hard days off. 12 a month. None of this "soft" day stuff. I notice a lot of other companies do have the soft days, I think ASA calls them "golden" days or something. In fact, with the crappy line schedules, a lot of commuters are bidding reserve again. A bit ironic. I'll be honest, reserve at AWAC really isn't that bad, IMO.

Just clarification: at XJT you are guaranteed a minimum of 11 days off in a 30 day month or 12 off in a 31 day month. However, if scheduling rolls one of your days off...any of them...that day has to be restored to you. You get to choose 2 days and they have to give you one of em as long as it meets certain requirements (not in the middle of a block of reserve days is the most common one). Then you can designate a block of days off that are immovable meaning scheduling can not roll into those days and then restore it later. I guess it is kind of a moot point since reserve at EWR and IAH is only running about 3-4 months for most.
