Where Does One Go!!!

I have been out of the hiring game for a long time. Been furloughed now for a year and need to get back into it for currency sake. For those of you out there what it the best regional to look at for the best combination of Upgrade Tie, QOL, pay, equipment, commuting, scheds, contract. Any input is appreciated as I have been hearing Compass seems to one of them near the top of the list. Throw out what you got, I need the real story.

Temocil27 09-14-2013 11:24 AM

Great Lakes is hiring. Silver is, too. Other than that don't bother

WantTheJob 09-14-2013 11:35 AM

Now that, I definitely don't understand. Are you telling me that anything outside of Great Lakes and Silver are not worth exploring? And why would those 2 be so sought after relatively speaking?

He's probably being very sarcastic !
I am hearing the same about Compass as well. Sorry man, can't help much as I am a newbie. But look into Skywest, express jet and maybe Eagle.

Check out Ameriflight! It's a great experience and you will learn a lot. I never regret going there before the regionals. I can tell you who to get into contact with if you're interested.

Temocil27 09-14-2013 11:57 AM

I kid, I kid. Compass is great from what everyone says. Skywest also good.

Because those all usually don't come in the same airline. Historically, the crappier regionals offered quicker upgrades but an overall lower compensation/QOL package. It was always a trade off.

Today, if I had to start at a regional I would heavily consider Compass. Those CAs are going to be flowing to Delta which means there will be movement to the left seat. Compass pay/QOL doesn't seem too bad either.

compass, eagle, mesa (ipads), skywest, express

Pilotguy143 09-14-2013 04:17 PM

GoJet is hiring. Classes of 20+ each month for the future. Like everything, you have to do what is best for you and your family.

I would encourage you not to chase the upgrade and look at bases, QOL, etc.

Are you really suggesting Mesa because of (ipads)?

Farmlover 09-14-2013 10:00 PM

Wow y'all. We have ppl actually suggesting a place because of iPad and someone actually saying go jet?! Lol I needed a great laugh. iPads... Hahaha

WantTheJob 09-15-2013 01:39 PM

If it were between Air Whiskey and Compass, anyone have info on either that is not published. Both look pretty descent for someone in my position but you never know until you hear the real dirt from people on the inside. So anyone employed by either willing to disclose, I am listening.

Look, the fact is, if you are looking to make a regional a career, then hit one of the bigger ones, i.e., express jet, skywest...The truth is, flying is what you need if you are looking to return to a major. Most everyone is hiring. Set yourself up at Airlineapps.com, and apply. Look at airlinepilotcentral.com and you will see some useful (and some not-so-useful) information, and apply, apply, apply. Get your currency, get some more time, and get into the majors as they start picking up guys. There are issues with all regionals, but just take the bad with the good, or the good with the bad and suck it up for a while. I'm in the same boat as you. Just got let go from the dream corporate job, and now I'm back to the regionals to get myself into the majors. PM me if you have any questions or any other information.

Brilliant! Maybe airways should throw some ipads in to sweeten the deal for psa

Pogey Bait 09-16-2013 12:44 PM

I personally would recommend to go to a place that offers: 1.) under wing time jet time and 2.) iPad's. This is simply the best way to fly.

If you don't have any luck with this, then just say screw it, and go to the first place you can get a job that has iPad's.
