EFB's at XJT
 

Looks like we're finally getting them:

"As you know, last fall we talked about the EFB coming, and then again in April when Brad and I had an all-pilot conference call we talked a little bit about where we were and mentioned that we were looking at the technology. We continue to work behind the scenes to get all the pieces lined up to bring this product to you, because I know you really need it out there. Right now we’re working with the FAA to gain approval and move forward with the testing of the device. We have a few things left on the aircraft testing to be resolved with the FAA, and I hope that will be resolved shortly. Our plan right now is to start field testing the EFB in the fourth quarter of this year, and we’ll use approximately 20 to 25 pilots initially to start testing. So you should see some folks out there with EFBs.
This test phase will last about six months once we get it started. As we’ve talked in the past, we’re leaning toward an iPad, as it looks like the best product for us. And as soon as we get the testing complete, we’ll move forward. There will be a lot more information that comes out about how we’re going to distribute the devices and that sort of thing, but right now we’re starting to make some progress and hopefully you’ll begin to see some folks out there with them."

So what you're saying is... next summer. If everything goes as planned, as that always happens.

If we have to give up OJI or anything else to get em.. I'll keep my 50lb flight case thanks.

How do you figure you "need" it?

Anyone at xjt know whose behind this? Do you guys have an efb team or manager or something?

If I am not mistaken delta is going with galaxy tabs

and im sure they were probably bought used in china for 1/10th of the price, like the rest of their narrowbody fleet, haha
