what to take to an interview
 

i was reading on "aviation interviews" .com that some airlines require a HIGHSCHOOL TRANSCRIPT.......YGBSM!!!!!!!

that was over 20 years ago......wouldnt a college transcript be better or suffice instead...hell, how do you even GET a highschool transcript????

anyway, does anyone else have any suggestions about what to take. (given the assumption that you take EXACTLY what they SAY to take)...

all depends on the airline. But usually copies of your drivers license, pilots license, 1st class medical, FCC permit, and passport. All logbooks (sometimes bookmarked to certain pages). A copy of your high school diploma should suffice (never heard of high school transcripts), all college transcipts, your completely filled out application with a notorized signature for your NDR.
Maybe a couple other things but that is the main stuff

Granted, high school wasn't 20 years ago for me but I just called my old high school, talked to the registrar (who still remembered me after 6 years for some odd reason, probably since I knew her daughter...anyway) and she mailed it off no problem. Most of that stuff is on a computer somewhere anyway so apparently its not a big deal to retrieve it. But shoot, if high school was 20 years ago for you, why would an airline care what grade you got in geometry or US history?

Could be that some airlines require it for your 10 year background check if you were in high school 10 years ago. Probably the easiest way for them to verify that you were enrolled in high school during the time you said you were.

Take what they tell you to bring.

Some of them like an extensive paper trail to help ensure that you really are who you say you are. It's a real nuisance for guys that have been knocking around the world a bit (what was that dude's name that I did the contract work for in Singapore in 1994?).

But just call your high school and have them mail you a transcript. This kind of thing can take a weeks so I would start now. Transcripts are often sealed in envelopes or stamped to make them official...order 7-10 official copies while you're doing it. Airlines often want to keep official copies, not your zerox. This is the list of stuff you will likely need.

-Birth Certificate (certified, the county you were born in can provide these)
-Origial SS Card/Green Card
-Pilot/CFI Certs
-CURRENT 1st class medical
-FCC restricted radiotelephone license
-Passport
-Logbooks (make sure they all add up ! TT = ASEL + AMEL)
-HS Diploma & transcripts
-College Diploma & transcripts
-Votech Diplomas & transcripts
-List of all residences
-List of references, with current phone numbers.
-List of all employers, with address, phone, fax, and reference.
-3+ Letters of reference, 2 from senior pilots (airline captains, DPE, etc) and one from a teacher, military commander, former boss, etc. If possible get a custom, original letter addressed to the company you are interviewing with.
-Military DD214: They will probably want the full form that shows your honorable discharge...if you don't have an honorable, better call the truck driving school. They will want to keep a certified copy...take your original to your local VA and have them make 10 certified copies.
-Copies of military awards
-Military school diplomas
-Drivers license printout from every state you have held a license in in the last 10 years
-Info regarding any arrests or convictions.


They will normally want to keep certified copies of official records, so order plenty of those while you are doing it so you'll have enough for future job searches.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of.
