Default RP/S5 cat 2?

Does Republic and Shuttle not have CAT 2 authorization?? They diverted from DEN tonight when the RVR would have permitted CAT 2 and then told COS ops that DEN was closed for the next 5 hours. DEN was not closed, but TAF had main body 1/4 mile so of course wouldn't have been legal for them to launch without being able to Cat 2...

Republic, yes.

Shuttle, no. Until Delta and United tell our cheap mgmt to spend the money to train the crews, they won't. Just biz as usual for Bedford and Co.

eagle same way. they have been working on CAT 2 for 8 years. AQP now for 10 years. still very few people trained in either one and it just a waste of money for now. eagle training is so inept. so is management.

When the F9 flying went away so did the Cat 2. They're not training people Cat 2 anymore. You used to have to be based in a base that did F9 flights in order to be qual'd. The only way they justified the cost was because it impacted the bottom line. AA/US, DL, UAL aren't going to pay for it so the crews that fly those flights are not qualified.
