Taxes and the airlines?!?!?!

all,

I have a question regarding taxes while working for an airline.

I am currently military and we have a "domicile" for tax purposes that allows us to earn money in one state while maintaining residency in another. while the military moves us around, this helps out a lot (IE: live in NC but a resident of TX....hence, no state tax)...

ok, lets say you live in TX (yes physically live there) and you home base out of Atlanta (ok, a stretch, but work with me)... do you pay Georgia taxes or do you pay Texas taxes (which are none)????

hope my question is clear...

thanks!!

Happy Festivus!!

You pay taxes to your resident state. This was my case when I lived in MO and commuted to ATL.
The only catch may be a city tax which is not the case of ATL. Some cities will tax you if you "work" there, even if you do not live there. There may be an exemption for airline pilots; those based out of ORD could probably answer this as ORD is one of the cities that taxes commuters.
Not at all a stretch to commute from Texas to ATL, although it may be tough as there are 1 or two commuters from DFW. I have known pilots who commute to Germany; Chile; Alaska; CA; CO from ATL.
