XJT ATL-CLE Commuters

Any XJT folks who commute to CLE from ATL? Curious if anyone has thoughts. Trying to gauge CLE in the 73 as an ATL commuter but so few seem to have experience with it on the mainline side. Anyone care to chime in?

Cheers,

HT

I fly or deadhead on that route a lot and it tends to be wide open on Delta.

Thanks, CT. UAL Express has gone from 3/day to 1/day but DAL has 5'ish big airplanes. I'm considering bidding CLE for personal reasons and the commute is my biggest question.

Is ATL one of the surviving routes in the CLE? I would check on that first.

Hilltopper,

I see by your avatar, etc. that you are currently IAH 737? So you are a 737 mainline pilot for UAL I am assuming? I hate to break it to you but there are going to be no openings in CLE on the 737. CLE staffing is not increasing on the mainline side and the past few vacancy bids have shown the MIN staffing number in CLE going down each bid. The MAX is set to current staffing, but Man Power Planning lowers the MIN number so if people bid out another vacancy isn't created.

I'm not saying you can't bid for it in the vacancy bidding process, but you are not likely to get it. There are pilots commuting from CLE to other bases with base trades in for CLE who haven't been able to get in.

It was listed on the flying together website.

I just checked for you and ATL is one of the cities that is losing its service to CLE. Time for a new plan.

Thanks, all. I was simply looking into possibilities. I have a friend, fellow new hire, who got there on a base trade. if I did it that would be the route I'd explore.

Cheers,

HT
