I think most peoples biggest beef with great mistakes is the slap in the face pay scale. I could not survive on that.

Actually, we do have map mode. At least, we call it map mode. Maybe we're not talking about the same thing here, though. Regardless, I still kinda prefer the standard HSI arrow and don't use it a whole lot. None of our planes have GPS/RNAV, none of the 1900's, anyway...not sure about the Brasilias. The majority of the 1900's do not have a right side flight director, either.

Thanks guys! Another question...what exactly is that 15 month training contract for $7,500? Is that something you have to pay before you get hired, or is that some kind of deal that if you quit within 15 months you have to pay?

Our contract is not pro-rated...so if you leave during month 14, it's a $7,500 hit you'll take to have the privilege to do so. It only comes into effect if you quit, and you don't have to pay anything before you get hired.

Flying in the west is fun, but I'd say that, for the most part, it's relatively tame, perhaps with the exception of the Telluride flying.

Quick upgrade, crappy salary, great aircraft...that's all I've heard.

Well, I can honestly say that all the lakers I know are the best at partying of any pilots I've met. To my knowledge, all the part 121 1900's out there DO NOT have any type of RNAV or Autopilot. This gives you plenty of practice for that next sim ride I guess :). The pay is low...which always means the upgrade is fast....I guess thats how it works these days.

Thanks for the insight!

Is pity the same as looking down on?

How long would you be on reserve at GLA? What are the upgrade requirements?

Sh!t yeah, I'd buy you a hamburger any day! I only pity you guys because you spend all day bouncing through the mountains in the snow with no F/A and no autopilot.

Dont forget the most important thing...no bathroom. Dude you will enjoy the 1900 it is the most fun you will have hot doggn around the sky until you get the airplanes that taddle on ya. BTW map mode on the jets is different than the map mode on the 1900 but I know what ya mean. Miss that damn airplane dont miss the crappy pay...the 1900 is a no frilles kinda bird, but *****en fun.

Sorry, gotta call you on it. You forgot to stipulate "in the lower 48." ;)

Whether there is an autopilot or not is purely the company's choice.

We fly 1900C models (not so much headroom and not so fast actually either). Every one of our 1900s has a KLN 90B GPS, btw.

We have one 1900 that has an autopilot. Warbelos isn't 121 yet but their 1900 also has an autopilot. I don't know if the other operators in Alaska with 1900s have autopilots or not, but I guarantee you they have a GPS.

They only aircraft we have with a flight director is the one with the autopilot. None of the others have one, left or right. The autopilot equipped one does have one on the captain's, but it doesn't get used much except with the autopilot since the others don't have it.
