What Pilots are really good at

So lets start the list:
1) Moaning and bi&ching
2) Crying about pay
3) Not doing a damn thing
4) I push the autopilot button better than you
5) My auto land works better than yours

There is my list, whats on yours?

The CRJ doesn't land itself.

I am pretty good at the following:

1. Bitching and moaning about mainliners who got there by being in the right place at the right time and now think they are God's gift to aviation.

2. Bitching and moaning about my company and its inability to win a single RFP, even ones which should be a slam dunk.

3. Bitching and moaning about the CRJ.

4. Bitching and moaning about PHL.

5. Bitching and moaning about managers who seem to intentionally antagonise the pilot group, even though it doesn't in any way help them.

6. Bitching and moaning about redneck pilots who think they can solve the world's problems, even though all they have is a year or two of college and have never been outside the US.

7. Bitching and moaning about the weather on the east coast.

I am a very pleasant person!! :D

Sorry for jumping in here, but do I recall correctly that the CRJ doesn't even have Auto-Throttle? Thanks...

Pilots are good at taking an extremely complex machine into an even more complex and random environment with a combination of skill, rote memory, instinct and sometimes a bit of bravery. They can do this on demand, day or night, rain or snow, good management or bad, and bring the costly bit of hardware and it's cargo safely back to earth in a useable condition.

Not sure about the -900, but I know the -200 doesnt. Now it does have a neat little feature called Speed Mode, which will bite you if you use it incorrectly.

Bite you, as in drive you into the ground?

As in the same way the speed mode in the ERJ will.
You want to scare the crap out of your captain on IOE, get established in a climb at 1000 fpm, then hit FLC.

Even better than that when below 10000 in level flight and then assigned a climb, hit FLC or SPEED, then shove the thrust levers up to climb power in one quick motion. :D

Speed mode in the ERJ is the equivalent of Hellen Keller in the cockpit. The Pax will not appreciate it.
