How's Mesa? Have you even started yet?

Pretty rich huh? Guy is not even in class yet at his email-for-a-job lifeboat of an employer and already knows it all.

Yep, pretty much. There was zero chance that the site could take 10,000+ login attempts simultaneously.

Airplaneflyer11 07-07-2014 08:37 AM

Anybody else with luck yet?

lakehouse 07-07-2014 08:43 AM

They removed the form

Airplaneflyer11 07-07-2014 08:46 AM

Seriously? Is that why I can actually get somewhere now?

Airplaneflyer11 07-07-2014 08:47 AM

The link just brings up the video now

Yeah, mine didn't load. My buddy said his had an error message when submitting it but he got the thanks for registering email

RV5M 07-07-2014 08:53 AM

Seems like they would have anticipated an increased site load and done something about it. No...not in aviation, where everything is 10 years behind on the technology front.

Nightbirdflying 07-07-2014 08:58 AM

Looks like Delayed Again called this one right on the money.

Bzzt 07-07-2014 09:03 AM

Yep, link just goes straight to the video now. Either they reached their quota in 10 minutes or the website crashed and they took the form down.

yimke 07-07-2014 09:08 AM

Got it! Only took an hour of refreshing..

lakehouse 07-07-2014 09:11 AM

It's back, bet it'll be gone soon

MyMamma 07-07-2014 09:13 AM

I would get the form but when I submitted it the page would crash. So, I tried it again with the same results but then I checked my email and I have 4 emails saying I am registered. Ooops.

HVAA 07-07-2014 09:40 AM

CLOSED!

Thank you for your interest in the Fee for Departure (FFD) Open House sponsored by the UAL MEC. Due to the high demand for these events we have reached capacity and the registration has now closed. It is our hope that ALPA FFD Open Houses prove to be successful and are the model for assisting ALPA FFD pilots to United's flightdeck.

Bzzt 07-07-2014 09:47 AM

This just goes to show how many people are seeking employment at a legacy airline. It only took 1.5 hours for them to reach their quota for these open house events. This just proves my theory that getting an interview at a legacy is about as likely as winning the lottery.

jetracer5 07-07-2014 10:09 AM

Never even got the form and I started this right when it opened. My guess is the open house will be 90% regional ALPA guys and a few line pilots. I also think that many that did get through have multiple reservations. My buddy had 10. So I would sign up for that standby thing as the audit the list I'm sure there are a lot of duplicates.

Your buddy should be banned from these events and all future events. That's bull****. You click once and be done with it.

minimwage4 07-07-2014 10:15 AM

I feel sorry for whoever has to look at that standby list...

Instead of cattle calling everyone why don't they just take a certain percentage of each ALPA regional?

It probably wasn't intentional, no one really knew if they had been successful til they checked their email and the site was constantly crashing.

1 or a few times, yes. But someone with 10 emails was just clicking and probably was a major contributor to the crash. I understand the need to be competitive, but that's overkill.

Site was slow and crashing. He was hitting refresh and the submit button with it not working. Turns out it was working, kinda

Hopefully they audit everything because I have heard this a few times.

Nevets 07-07-2014 10:44 AM

It's all the Skywest pilots trying to submit their form that crashed it.;)

MyMamma 07-07-2014 10:53 AM

Like I said. I got 4 emails but it was not intenional. Easy and honest mistake because the site keeps crashing but if i get 4 dates assigned to me i will be surprised.

FaceBiter 07-07-2014 11:03 AM

Got 10 dates, will sell them for 50 a pop.

Are you being serious? I tried continuously for over an hour and couldn't get the site to load until it was full. Pretty frustrating, hoping they take alternates...

FaceBiter 07-07-2014 11:27 AM

You strike a hard bargain. 45 for you.

RV5M 07-07-2014 11:38 AM

Got the form, submitted, but no email.

Such a regional airline-ey process - crappy from, broken site, unclear instructions. Par for the industry.

Same here... Very frustrating.

RyanP 07-07-2014 12:09 PM

What a joke. This is so Regional Airline.. Waited patiently at the computer for 15 minutes like a good little pilot until 11:59 Eastern time, Then started trying to refresh the screen to get the sign up form at noon. Nothing.. crashed.. POS!!!!! GD regional pilot feeding frenzy it was. Things got crazy.. I think someone threw a trident.. And Brick Killed a guy.

So, I Refreshed 478,000 more times for 20 minutes.. ;server error; Finally got a form, filled it out. Crashed again.. And again, and again.. Filled out the stupid form 78 more times.. Every time it crashed saying "server error" while trying to submit it. Finally got one through.. and one confirmation email (of nothing guaranteed).. And won't know until the 21st, after our monthly bids close for next month on the 20th. So can't bid for a specific date in advance. Not that it matters because 2.5 million other regional pilots got in right away even though many "tried" to be there right at noon. So that sucks..

There's another term for that. Half-azzzed.

In fact, that should be the motto for the regional industry.

RyanP 07-07-2014 12:29 PM

The way that went.. I'd give it about a 80% chance of canceling anyway. It will be just about right for what we are used to around here. Give regional pilots a glimmer of hope, then take it away and stomp on it. Repeatedly.

I like your style. But don't sell out for less though. That would be very "regional" of you.

FaceBiter 07-07-2014 02:20 PM

A Mesa guy will be along soon selling them for $19 a pop.

RyanP 07-07-2014 02:46 PM

PSA will take all the slots, they will offer to work for United with 4yr pay caps and increased healthcare costs.

ground stop 07-07-2014 04:47 PM

For those that did actually get the site to load and go through the process, what were the dates other than aug 13 and 14?

It wasn't "jets 4 jobs", that was at USAir.

Remember those UAL pilots went to the bottom of the Skywest list and provided upgrade opportunities for more pilots due to more jets coming on the property.

But the rest of what you said was spot on.

CL65driver 07-08-2014 10:59 AM

Sure is nice to see a mainline MEC looking out for their regional brothers and sisters.

RyanP 07-16-2014 12:56 PM

Check your email. Slots have been awarded.

Just got it.

If ALPA was really looking out for its members, shouldn't they have not agreed to relax scope and send their pilots to the bottom of a regional seniority list?
